Sum 41 is set to embark on a U.S. tour starting in Denver on January 15 with Unwritten Law and Gob. The Canadian band is then set to tour overseas to make up dates postponed due to the September 11 terrorist attacks.
The tour kicks off on February 6 in Osaka, Japan, then heads to New Zealand, Australia, the Netherlands and Germany. The Canadian band's first UK date is in Nottingham on March 6.
Sum 41 is following up the hit "Fat Lip" and its latest single "In Too Deep" with "Motivation." The track is the third single off All Killer No Filler, and the video for the clip is being lensed by director Mark Klasfeld, who worked on the band's previous two clips. It was shot last November in Los Angeles.
Drummer Steve Jocz told LAUNCH that America has been changed forever due to the September 11 attacks and the war in Afghanistan. "It's never going to be the same. They can bomb Afghanistan for as long as they want, but this stuff...I think America is just going to turn into what's happening in Palestine or Israel. It's just going to be bombs everywhere, and people are just going to start doing this stuff all the time," he said. "It's just going to become a way of life. It's not going to go away, and I think Americans haven't grasped that idea yet. That your country is never going to be the same."
Its Dec. 19 and Christmas is right around the corner! We just got off tour and are freezing our asses off while home in Canada - Actually its not very cold, but you could imagine. The tour with the Vandals was awesome but over so quick it felt it finished faster than Warren Fitzgerald could pull out his penis. We also played a few shows with our good friends H2O and Auto Pilot Off and of course our Favourite band, Gob. Right now we'll be taking a month off at home where we played the tour's last show in Toronto - It rocked. Our last show wasn't at Brock University in St. Catherines Ont. However. We were never booked or knew about it so if you went, we're sorry but we never agreed to it or knew about it. But believe me... If I catch the son of a bitch who fucked some of OUR fans out of money - He'd better ask Santa for a new set of Testicles for Christmas... Cause when I find the Son of a Bitch, I'm gonna tear them off. HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

Sum 41 have admitted to Radio 1 they are keeping up the rock and roll tradition of trashing hotel rooms.
They kicked off their UK tour last night(Mon) in London without incident but told us it was different story during their stay in Vienna the night before.
The lads say they had a few too many shandys and decided they had a problem with the decor:
"We saw this picture in the hallway and thought it was inappropriate. It didn't co-ordinate with anything else in the hallway so we smashed it."
They say now they have hit the big time they can get away with it:
"I know it sounds juvenile but it was fun - we can get away with a lot now. The cops didn't show up so it was fine." ~Info from www.bbc.co.uk/radio1

SEPTEMBER 27 NEW VIDEO ON THE RISE
Each week a top secret committee of MuchMusic's finest personnel gather to decide which new videos will be thrown into rotation, be it heavy, medium or light. This crack team of producers, VJs, assistants and derelicts hole themselves up for hours until a decision has been made or they've all become really hungry, depending on what comes first. See them before they've polluted the airwaves and become the annoying, overplayed hits that you know they'll no doubt be. "In Too Deep" has hit the High Rotation spot and you will soon see them blast into the Much Music Countdown!

Sum 41 pulled off the last few dates of the Blink 182 tour, which ends Friday night (September 21) in the San Diego area (Chula Vista, California). In a statement Sum 41 thought it best to be home. "In the wake of Tuesday's (September 11) tragic events, Sum 41 chose to leave the last week of its tour with Blink 182. This difficult decision was based primarily on the band's desire to be at home with their families at this trying time of instability and uncertainty. Their hearts and prayers remain with the victims and their families."
As if that weren't enough, the band is working on its next album, which it hopes to be released next year. Sum 41 have six new songs written and ideas percolating for many more. "The next album will be a little bit different," said guitarist/vocalist Deryck Whibley. "We're not just gonna repeat All Killer No Filler. There's a little more melody. Some of the songs are slower and some are faster, but it will definitely sound like Sum 41." Whibley said Sum 41 plan to enter the studio when they finish touring.

Last week, the guys were #2 on the countdown, but this week, they're taking the spot at #1 on the Canadian MUCHMUSIC Top 20 Countdown!

The four hellions from Ajax, ON have achieved Gold status in both the U.S. (500,000 copies sold) and Canada (50,000 copies sold) for All Killer, No Filler.
Satan hasn’t let them down, coming through on his promise of Gold, riches and women. Well, they still don’t have the latter two, yet, but when Brownsound, Bizzy D, Cone and Steveo 32 wear those Gold albums in public, the chicks will come swooning. Ah, we remember the days when the guys had nothing but cooper level sales and people mocked us for showering them with praise.
Sure, all the credit could go to Satan for guiding this quartet of punks, but that would be a disservice to all their hard work. Sum41 been touring heavily in the last 18 months and from the looks of things they won’t be letting up anytime soon.
-Matt Mernagh, ChartAttack

Sum 41, who recently joined the Warped Tour, was definitely the highlight of the show. Partially because the crowd was made up of primarily their target demographic, young, skater types, but mostly because the energy level during their set was off the charts. From the second the band hit the stage, it was non-stop action. Sum 41 jumped in time to the music, strummed their guitars like Pete Townsend on crack and kept the crowd totally amped up. Bizzy D aka Deryck Whibley proved to be a great front man, interacting with the crowd and at one point making a tongue in cheek comment about the kids homework assignment was to go home and worship Satan. Cone kept a solid bass line and Dave Brown Sound added some tremendous vocals and guitar work to the mix. Stevo showed a little Peter Criss action, not only keeping the beat at a fevered pace, but also contributing to the vocals. The band blasted through a handful of songs from their current release, All Killer, No Filler. The biggest responses came from "Nothing On My Back" and "Fat Lip," which has been getting considerable radio/video play. "Fat Lip" was so good they decided to come back out and do it one more time. Hey, it’s gonna be on MTV for God’s sake.
Sum 41 are at it again in Los Angeles - filming the video for their next single "In Too Deep". They want you guys, the fans, there - the first 400 to show up will appear in the video! Don't be late! Bring your family and friends. Spread the word. Weather Permitting.
