Epilogue – Inner Peace Epilogue – Inner Peace

A solitary man knelt quietly in front of a gravestone, tracing the name of the deceased with one finger. The inscription was slightly worn with the passage of time, but still clearly readable:

Devor the Second
King, father, brother, and hero
We will all miss you.

“I still miss you, Dad.” A single tear fell from Darunia’s eye as he remembered his father. “Fifteen years. It’s hard to believe that it’s been so long. I wish you were still here. There’s so much you never got to see…” His voice faltered; the Goron king heaved a sigh, trying to stave off the oncoming flow of tears. So much had changed in his life in the past decade-and-a-half. If anyone had told him fifteen years ago that he would one day have a Gerudo as a close friend, he would have flipped his lid. If anyone had said that he would be as great a ruler as his father had been, he would have thought them insane.

“Are you okay?” Darunia felt a hand touch his shoulder. He turned his head and saw Igari standing behind him with a concerned look on her face. In her arms lay a small child--their infant son--sleeping serenely in her gentle grasp. Darunia couldn’t help but smile.

If anyone had told him that he would one day find happiness, he would have dismissed it as pure fantasy.

Times do change, don’t they?
