Note: I do not own any of these songs! The proper titles and songwriters will be listed at the end of this chapter.
RaiaGirl’s Thoughts: The trip to school went relatively well-aside from the car trip and Rauru leaving in a huff.
Zelda: Do you think he'll come back?
RaiaGirl: Later, maybe. Who knows. He seems to be a pretty temperamental guy. I guess that's what happens when you're cooped up in the Sacred Realm for a couple hundred years.
Ganondorf: You wouldn't want me to get like that, would you?
Link: Don't even think about trying to talk your way out of the Evil Realm. You're very privileged to even be here right now.
Ganondorf: #^%&....
RaiaGirl: Anyway, now that we're back here, what do you want to do?
Saria: I don't know....
Nabooru: What is there to do?
Igari: Any suggestions? What do you usually do when you're not at school?
RaiaGirl thinks for a few moments. (Another strange occurrence.) She clears her throat and takes a deep breath.
RaiaGirl: (talking at about 397.6 miles per hour) Play video games, act, go to work, sing, play the trombone, draw, write, devise complex scientific theories, swim, watch, T.V., take walks, hike in the mountains, annoy my roommates, talk to my roommates not necessarily in that order....
Ruto: Whoa, slow down!
Impa: Swimming sounds like fun.
Darunia: Can't. Gorons sink like rocks.
Majora: A trombone seems pretty interesting.
RaiaGirl: You have no lips.
Majora: Never mind.
Malon: What about singing? That sounds like a lot of fun!
Zelda: Not a bad idea.
Ruto: What are we supposed to sing?
RaiaGirl: You can choose anything from my CD collection or my mp3 list on my computer.
Link: Cool!
A short while later....
RaiaGirl: Has everyone picked something to sing?
Saria: I believe so.
Malon: We're ready!
RaiaGirl: Okay. Who wants to sing first?
Malon: I will! I love to sing!
*Horses are creatures that worship the Earth
They gallop on feet of ivory.
Constrained by the wonder of dying and birth,
The horses still run, they are free.*
Malon continues, and a short time later her song is complete. Everyone breaks into a round of applause.
Zelda: That was wonderful!
Malon: Thanks!
RaiaGirl: Now you get to choose who goes next.
Malon: Okay. Hmmm.
She looks around the room, eyeing everyone. Her eyes finally rest on Princess Ruto. She smiles.
Malon: Ruto, it's your turn.
Ruto: Aww, man....
She stands up and begins to sing.
*Spend all your time waiting
For that second chance.
The break that would make it okay...*
Princess Ruto is beginning to enjoy herself, but she is so off-key that everyone else is cringing. Finally, just as everyone thinks their eardrums can't take any more, the song ends, much to everyone's mutual relief.
Ruto: So, what'd you think?
Igari: (fumbling) It was just...fine.
Link: Moving.
Ganondorf: What the he** are you talking about? She sucks!
Ruto: Hey! You try doing better! You're up, Ganondorf!
Ganondorf: Okay, Fish face. Now you'll hear how a true master sings! Ready or not world, here I come!
*You can dance! You can jive!
Having the time of your life! Ooh!
See that girl, watch that scene.
Dig it, the Dancing Queen!*
Everyone starts chuckling. Ganondorf sings the song surprisingly well-even in the female voice range. Once the song is over, everyone starts clapping.
Ganondorf: Heh. I am good.
Link: It took a lot of guts to sing that song in front of people!
Ganondorf: That's my favorite song!
Nabooru: That explains a lot.
Ganondorf: Oh, fine! Nabooru, it's your turn.
Nabooru: (mumbling) *Dancing Queen*-good grief!
*I've always been SHY!
I confess that I'm SHY
Can't you guess that this confident air
Is a mask that I wear 'cuz I'm SHY?*
She is loud-very loud. But unlike Ruto actually sings on key.
Ganondorf: I think I'm deaf now.
Majora: What?
Ganondorf: Exactly.
Nabooru: I didn't think I was that bad.
RaiaGirl: You weren't. Just a bit loud, that's all.
Nabooru: Uh huh. Let's see. The next victim will be...YOU!
She points at Darunia.
Darunia: Okay. Here goes.
*A winter's day, in a deep and dark December.
I am alone. Gazing from my window,
To the streets below, on a freshly fallen silent shroud of snow.
I am a rock! I am an island!*
Various snickers come from the group as the Sage of Fire finishes.
RaiaGirl: Now how did I know that he would pick that particular song?
Igari: You did great!
Darunia: Thanks. Let's see. Who should sing next.
Igari shakes her head wildly. Everyone else just stares into space.
Darunia: Saria.
Saria: Yippee!
*I have a dream, a song to sing
To help me cope with anything.
If you see the wonder of a fairy tale,
You can take the future, even if you fail...*
Zelda and Malon join in with harmony and soon the song is over.
RaiaGirl: That was really pretty!
Link: Very good!
Saria: Thanks! Oh, it's your turn, by the way.
Link: (sighing) All right. I'm ready to go....
*Look into my eyes, you will see
What you mean to me.
Search your heart, search your soul.
When you find me there, you'll search no more...*
He looks at Zelda throughout the entire song. By the end, she has tears in her eyes.
Zelda: That was...gorgeous.
Majora: It was sappy.
Ganondorf: Two sweet songs in a row. Can I puke now?
RaiaGirl: Oh, you two are just jealous!
Link: They're just being obstinate. Zel, I hand the microphone to you.
He does and kisses her.
Ruto: Oh, get a room!
Zelda glares at Princess Ruto and starts her song.
*I always will remember, t'was a year ago November
I went out to hunt some deer on a morning bright and clear.
I went and shot the maximum the game laws would allow:
Two game wardens, seven hunters, and a cow...*
Amid strange glances and snickers, Malon looks slightly uncomfortable. It isn't until the end of the song that she reveals why.
Malon: That poor cow!
Nabooru: (smirking) It's just a song. No cows, game wardens, or hunters were harmed in the writing of the lyrics.
Ganondorf: Now that was funny!
Zelda: Finally, the King of Evil is pleased. An empty victory. Okay Impa, you're up!
The Sage of Shadow stoically takes the microphone.
*Sweet Dreams are made of this.
Who am I to disagree?
I travel the world and the seven Seas.
Everybody's looking for something...*
The song continues for what seems like forever.
Majora: Too repetitive. And I don't like the beat.
Impa: Are you always this negative?
Majora: Worse, actually.
Impa: See how well you do.
Majora: Fine.
*Puff the magic dragon lived by the sea,
And frolicked in the autumn mist in the land called Honah Lee
.
Little Jackie Paper loved that rascal puff
,
And brought him strings and sealing wax, and other fancy stuff!*
By the time the song has ended, everyone is either nodding their head or rocking back and forth to the beat.
Saria: That was so cute!
Ganondorf: It was silly if you ask me.
Zelda: No one is asking you.
Majora: Am I the last one?
RaiaGirl: Has everyone gone yet?
Darunia: No.
He nudges Igari. Her eyes practically bug out of her head and she shrinks back.
RaiaGirl: You haven't sung yet.
Igari: I won't.
Darunia: C'mon, you have a great voice!
Igari: I've never sung in public before!
Link: We're all friends here.
He eyes Ganondorf.
Link: Well, most of us.
Igari: Well...I guess I'll give it a try....
*Perhaps love is like a resting place, a shelter from the storm
It exists to give you comfort, it is there to keep you warm.
And in those times of trouble, when you are most alone,
The memory of love will bring you home.*
She starts out rather timidly, but as the song progresses, she starts gaining confidence and her voice gets stringer. When Igari is finally finished, the entire group bursts into applause-except for Majora. As a mask, it has no hands.
Zelda: That was incredible! And you didn't even want to sing!
Majora: I'm impressed.
Darunia: Gorgeous, as usual.
Igari smiles.
RaiaGirl: So, now that this is over, what next?
Ruto: What about the computers?
Link: Didn't you say you'd try to get some for us?
RaiaGirl: Well...
Nabooru: Wait a minute...you didn't sing anything for us!
Igari: If I sang, you have to sing too!
RaiaGirl: Okay, okay, you can have the computers! Yeesh!
