Capcom's Shinji Mikami Reveals Devil May Cry for PS2

TOKYO -November 16, 2000 -Capcom, a leading worldwide developer and publisher of video games, today announced Devil May Cry its next blockbuster production for the PlayStation2 computer entertainment system. The announcement was made by executive producer, Shinji Mikami, creator of Capcom award-winning, and multi-million unit selling franchised survival horror products, Resident Evil and Dino Crisis. Devil May Cry is an action game in which players investigate supernatural cases like poltergeists and demon possessions in order to carry out a 2000 year-old revenge. Capcom Japan plans to release Devil May Cry in the second quarter of 2001. The U.S. and Europe release is planned for Christmas 2001.
The company today also announced plans to release Biohazard Code: Veronica Complete Edition for PlayStation 2 and Sega Dreamcast in Japan in the first quarter 2001.
New Model PS2 In Japan!
Sony will be releasing the model SCPH-1800 in Japan on December 8, 2000. The differences include the inclusion of the DVD drivers in the hardware, like the North American release as well as being packaged with a DVD remote. Since it no longer requires the 8MB memory card to work the Japanese machine will no longer come with a memory card. See image of the machine and remote below.
New DVD Remote For The PS2
SCPH-10170 will be released on December 22, 2000. It will be a full function remote that will contain features the last one did not. It also has all the buttons that the Dual Shock 2 controller has so it can be used for games. Also packed into the box will be the newest version of the DVD driver 2.01.
