Soul Calibur Headed to PS2
.

May Mitsurugi and crew return home to the sequel of the console that started their fighting careers? According to IGNPS2’s speculations and recent quotes from Namco, we’d have to say so too. As most of you know, Soul Calibur revolutionized fighting games in terms of graphics, and still stands among the mighty trio of fighting games even after a year since its launch. The mighty trio, which consists of Tekken Tag Tournament, Dead or Alive 2, and Soul Calibur, still bang heads in heated rivalry to claim the #1 spot for themselves. The graphics in Soul Calibur are still top of the line for the Sega Dreamcast and even the PS2. Soul Calibur is still arguably the best looking game for the Dreamcast and is only slightly beaten in the visual department by the persuasive Tekken Tag Tourny. Anyway, back on subject, Namco had just quoted news, which may drive hardcore Sega fans from all around the world into a state of ire.

Here is what Namco said: “I'm not sure if it's [considered] a sequel or not, but we're working on something." With “it” as being referred to as Soul Calibur, this is just about as close as a conformation as we can get. So as it stands, there will be some form of Soul Calibur coming to the PS2 even if it’s not a sequel. Perhaps we will see some extras like highly enhanced graphics. For those of you who fail to remember the beauty of Soul Calibur on the Sega Dreamcast, click on the screenshots below to check them out.
