I have lived in Eagle-Vail for over ten years, originally from Rochester, NY. My parents moved us out here for skiing and better weather. I have gone to public schools here since second grade. I've recieved mostly A's, or their equivalent in elementary school, for the past ten years and I've had many interests. Currently my favorite academic classes are physics, because of its numerous real-world applications, and AP English-Literature, because it is teaching me to get more from the books I read. I also enjoy music a lot, as evidenced by my ever-growing CD collection. I play trombone in the concert, marching, and jazz bands and in jazz lab. I'm really into to guitar right now and have been since June when I started trying to teach myself. In sports I play soccer, my favorite sport, for the school and a club. I ski for the alpine team and I also free-ski with my friends. I'm trying track for the first time this spring and so far I like it. I would describe myself as quiet, hard-working, reliable, bright, lazy, musically-inclined, and trustworthy.
Besides the obvious reason of saving money for my parents, who have to put three more kids through college, there is another reason I feel you should consider me for this scholarship. It is my motivation to succeed. One of my goals in life is to get a good job in a field I enjoy working in and then making a discovery or invention that aids someone's daily life. I'm motivated to be successful in this or any other endeavors I undertake. The ability to help someone is a great asset and I will try to be able to do that.
