College Essay

My College Aspirations

I have lived with my family in Eagle-Vail, CO for almost 11 years now. The cost of living is quite high, but both of my parents work doing what they like, without monetary restrictions. This is due largely in part to my dad's hard work while he was with a financial investment firm. He secured enough money for us to move cross-country and buy a house near a resort community. He got his job at the firm because he was knowledgeable in his field. That is what I hope to achieve at the University of Colorado. I want to be able to do whatever I want when I reach middle age.

Although the aforementioned scenario would be adequate, I believe a college education could offer even better opportunities. It will be a chance to discover and try out a few new things, and eventually find the right major. After that I'll be able to do what I enjoy even before retirement. I think CU will give me the chance to become an expert in an area of study while providing me with the skills I need to persuade someone to hire me.

Besides being a catalyst for me to achieve my long-term goals, the short-term benefits of college are also valuable. Meeting new people, living on your own, and getting exposure to the real world are all important in the kid-to-adult transition. I think CU and I will help each other learn. I'll recieve the whole college learning experience and you'll get a unique person. I'll be a hard worker, a skier and a soccer player, a trombone and a guitar player, and a nice person. If I get good enough at guitar, maybe I'll start a band and really contribute to the campus.

In conclusion, I think CU will be right for me because it provides a quality education and a chance to furthur yourself afterwards, it has a great atmosphere, and it has skiing nearby.
