Coming from a family in which mechanical devices break daily, I've learned that there are some jobs you can't do yourself and you need an expert to step in. This has become evident most visibly from our family's car troubles. My dad will try to fix many problems himself, but most of the time, they're temporary solutions and the device really breaks. He's used countless shops because he can never find one that will fix all the car's problems - eventually the shop won't be able to fix something and he'll move on to find another place. I believe that with this scholarship can help me learn to make something that works it will be a good investment on your part.
In the field of computer engineering, which I plan to enter, the purpose is to put computers into machines to make them smart. Smarter machines with more efficient performance and more reliability are achieved partly by installing quality computers. The right computer in a machine can help it fix a problem quickly, safely, and cheaply with less hassle to the operator and the customer. By designing such a computer, I could obtain satisfied customers for your company.
I was originally born in New York and moved to Vail, CO in 1989. Since then I've taken up skiing, trombone, guitar, continued soccer and have gotten interested in computers. My reason for choosing computer engineering as a major in college is that I'd like to furthur the computer revolution and integrate computers into more areas of work so that more people can enjoy how they better our lives and ease our workload. I believe the auto industry has benefited already from robots and computers that perform tedious tasks like computations and keeping track of inventory. I also believe that it can be taken even furthur to help the mechanic's daily work even more and I'd like to make a product that does just that.
