The Wheel Time
The Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan has spanned eight thick books with a ninth one coming soon. I've been reading these since seventh grade and they've kept me hooked. The last book wasn't that great, though, because there was no big battle or earth-shaking event like in the previous books. Although the lastest one Path of Daggers isn't pictured here, this is the series from one to nine.

The story follows six main characters through their journeys in their battle against the Dark One. All the characters start from relatively humble beginnings and are thrown on the world stage to fight for the Light. The Dragon Reborn, who relates intimately to one character, must defeat the Dark One, but also battle his inner madness. The plot is very deep and it will immerse you in their world.
