This is a book, by Lisa See, assigned along with five others for a 10-week long seminar course. Four weeks in, it's the best book by far. It's a story about a Chinese immigrant and his unique story and, later on, his descendants' stories. It's pretty interesting to see how he made his fortune despite the oppression he faced and also how his Chinese childhood shaped his life. It's also true (most of it anyway) and I read the whole thing even though we didn't have to for the class. I figure if I paid for it, I'd better read it. 4 of 5.
