The Lord of the Flies, by William Golding, is about an island with a group of kids stranded on it. It starts off with the hope that they'll make a utopia for themselves, but eventually the group splits into hostile factions. There is a lot of symbolism, from Piggies glasses to the monster to the kids' own situation. This book really shocked me because it shows what happens when the animal nature that is inside all humans is uncaged. 4 of 5.
