I read this John Steinbeck book for AP Eng Lit and I liked it better than the movie. It was pretty long, but it had greats touches like the intercalary chapters where he tells about the big picture using little punctuation. These breaks from the Joad's personal saga are welcome as informative segments and as a diversion from their soul-wrenching troubles. 4 of 5.
