General Characteristics:

It comes from the Lamiceae specie. Native from Mexico and Costa Rica. Itīs average height is from 1 to 1.5 mts., it has several lines across in their leaves and the shape is ovalade with sharpe endings. It has few flowers in average:12. It wrogs in Savaanas and canyons. The name of this herb comes from Náhuatl "zacatechichi", popular in Mexico, and itīs also known as "zacate de perro" and mother herb.

 

Uses:

Itīs been known and used as a plant that helps people to sleep. Itīs smoked and then the person lays down to sleep, and she/he would really rest while sleeping in a deep and relaxed way. Now a days there are a lot of laboratories that are dedicated to study more about Caleas properties. It can be smoked or drank like Tea, though it can be bitter.

In Oaxaca is used to have the senses more opened and to communicate with the spirit of the world, also used for high temperatures and nauseas. According to several studies itīs known that it is good to produce significant dreams and itīs been proved that Caleas extracts make the user have more dreams than the usual and the activity in the dreams in dreams is stronger because imagination is much better.

Calea Zacatechichi is a herb with a lot of popular uses in Mexico, such as problems with the stomach and others. And it{s also beleived that in order to know if a person that lives far away has no pain or sickness, you have to take dry leaves smoked or drank and some other leaves under the pillow, and then go to bed and try to sleep and rest, then you can get to know if the person is ok little by little.
