Our new house
In October of 2005, I closed on my new house. I chose the lot, the model, exterior paint, options, carpet, vinyl and countertops. It was a lot of fun watching it being built, but it was also very frustrating at times. I'm glad I got the opportunity to do it, but I'm not so sure I would do it again.......

We had to landscape the backyard ourselves...a lot less expensive than hiring someone else, but a lot of work, too! The soil in our area is the hardest clay I've ever seen. We worked with one of my neighbors to put up the fence. The soil was so hard that we had to chip a lot of it out with a six-foot long iron rod. Many times, the two-man auger just spun around and polished the sandstone underneath.
