Temptation
Chapter 6
By Crystal

"Well thank you for the tour Nick. It was very informative. Now I know where every arcade in the county is," she laughed as she hopped out of his SUV.

"That's important information!" he reasoned as he walked next to her. He reached for the front door to open it, but Jace stopped him with her hand.

"Wait a minute. You don't think we're done, do you?" She slipped in front of him and pressed her back up against the door. His eyes glazed a little as his arm was now wrapped around her. "What do you mean?"

"Well we're both young, impressionable, and we both like to have a good time. Right?"

He blinked. "Yeah."

"So aren't you going to hook it up?"

"Hook it up?"

"The club scene Nick! Come on, help your little sister out. Tonight you can take me to the hottest club in town. Unless you have other plans?" She smiled up at him, almost seductively.

"As a matter of fact, I was going to go out with my friend AJ tonight."

"Perfect. He's really cute. I'll be ready by nine. Thanks for a wonderful day, Nick." She placed a kiss on his cheek before opening the door. He quickly pulled her back and smiled, slyly.

"No, thank you." He leaned in and placed a kiss between her cheek and ear. She smiled and walked in the house, with Nick right behind her.

"There you two are!" Jace stopped so abruptly that Nick ran into her. She turned around and gave him a rude look. He smiled apologetically and shrugged.

"Dad! What's up?" Jace asked.

"Did you two have fun today?" Bob asked as he looked down at his daughter and son with beaming pride.

"Yeah Dad, we did. Nick is a good tour guide."

"Let me guess, he showed you all the arcades. Didn't he?"

"You know me too well," Nick interjected.

"I do, son. Well, mom has an early dinner prepared and wants to eat in a few. Are you guys staying for dinner?"

"I am. How about you Nick?" she asked, turning around to look at him.

"Wouldn't miss it."

"Good. Oh, Jace, your mom called. You can use the phone up in your room to call her back. Nick, go help Jane set the table." Nick flashed a look at Jace before heading off to the kitchen. Jace ran upstairs and plopped down on her bed. She dialed her mom up in New York.

"Hey, it's Jace. Yeah mom, everything is golden. I'm just here for a couple more days. It's fine, really. Yeah, I really like my brothers and sisters. Especially Nick. He's a lot like me. Sorry mom. Yeah, okay. Love you too. Bye." Jace hung up the phone and exhaled.

"What are you staring at?" Nick's voice startled Jace out of her trance. She didn't realize that she had been staring off into la la land for so long.

"I was just thinking back."

"To what?"

Jace looked up at him and then to the door. "Can you shut the door? I'd rather no one here." Nick shut the door and stepped into the room to take a seat on her bed. "What's up?"

"Can I be honest with you about something?"

"I'd prefer it if you were," he laughed.

"Well, my mom didn't tell me about my family until I was sixteen. I knew my dad was Bob Carter, but I never made the connection between the name and the father. Actually, the reason she told me is because she saw that I had a magazine with you on the cover. She kinda just casually asked me about it and I told her the truth. That you were a band and that the blonde one, you, was really cute. It was very school girl of me, but that was unavoidable. The look she gave me… I'll never forget it. It's surreal to like somebody then find out that you're their half-sister. So if I act a little weird around you it's because I've forgotten that you're my brother."

"Don't worry about it."

"But I do. In fact, do you wonder what it could have been like if we met, only under different circumstances? I mean, that is, nevermind. I can't just assume you felt the same way."

Nick shrugged and twitched his mouth. "I did. But there's nothing we can do about it."

"Guess not. God, I'm going to go to hell for liking my brother," she laughed.

"You didn't know."

"I said liking, not liked, Nick. See you at the dinner table." She smiled at him before walking out.
