This is a drawing of "Old Abe" the live eagle that was carried through a three year campaign with the 8th Wisconsin Regiment. "Old Abe" survived the war and had a home in the Wisconsin Capital building until it was destroyed by fire, with Abe still inside. This picture was sold for the benefit of the Great Sanitary Fair in Chicago in 1865.
