H.R.H. Edward VII, as the Prince of Wales

This etching of Edward VII with wife and child when he was still the Prince of Wales is in excellent condition.

Edward VII, or Bertie as he was affectionately known, married on 10 Mar 1863 to Alexandra of Denmark. He had toured America in his teens and was known as a playboy. He was the heir of Queen Victoria, and was much beloved by his subjects. Although He and Alexandra's marriage was one of the longest of any British monarch (47 years) he was a known philanderer with his best known mistress being the actress Lillie Langtry. He may have had an illegitimate daughter with one of his mistresses named Sonia who became the grandmother of Camilla Parker Bowles, the current love interest of Prince Charles.

The child in this photo is Albert Edward "Eddy", their eldest son, who died in 1892. Eddy was alleged to have married Annie Crook a commoner and it was said the the Jack the Ripper murders were committed to silence those that knew the truth, but no evidence was ever found.
