Christina on TRL
Perhaps some of you saw Christina on MTV's popular show, Total Request Live. I thought Christina seemed very sweet and grateful to be there. One thing that kind of irritated me was during one part of the show, there was a caller with a question. It was implied that the question was for Christina Aguilera, but it was actually for 98 Degrees (who were hosting the show.) This wasn't 98 Degrees fault and not necessarily the callers, but I have to wonder what kind of qualifications you need to work as a producer at MTV. I just thought that was incredible rude, Christina looked excited to answer a question and was greeting the caller. Once Christina heard the question wasn't for her she had nothing to do except stand there. She didn't act angry, but I know I would be. Then again, maybe Christina is a more forgiving person then I am. Back to the rest of the show, Christina discussed her video "Genie in a Bottle" and the real meaning of it.
"...Well, of course many people perceive the song as being very sexual, and you know it does tap on you know, being sexy of course. But I think it taps on the subject you know, the lyrics are 'I'm a Genie in a Bottle, you gotta rub me the right way,'which is really, you have to treat me the right way. So really it's a song about self-respect for females. And it's like I'm not going to give my love away that easily, you've got to try a little harder to get it. So it's a song about playing a little hard to get, which I think is a good message to young girls."
MTV always re-plays shows so you can catch Total Request Live again, Monday night(8/23) at 8:00 E/T.
