DEATH EPISODE: 21

The birth of NERV

The opening of the movie begins with a scene showing how the
Second Impact occurs. In Antarctica, Adam, the first Angel, was
asleep after arriving to earth. A research team led by Dr.
Katsuragi was dispatched there with the orders to reduce Adam to
his embroic form. In the process of reducing Adam, the research
team weren't able to reduce the energy released from the Angel.
Thus, a giant being of light was born and explosion occurred.
This giant being looked almost identical to an Evangelion down
to even the shoulders blades mounted on each arm. However, this
being was entirely composed of white energy and on its chest, the
core was barely visible. 
Dr. Katsuragi, being to only person to have barely survived the
explosion, picks up the limp body of his daughter, Misato
Katsuragi, and places her in an escape pod. A drop of blood
splatters on Misato's cheek and this causes her to wake up. The
last thing she sees before the pod closes is her fathers face.
Then, Adam sets of another energy blasts which destroys
Antarctica. As the Angel regenerates, four giant wings of light
unfold on its back which manage to reach out and cover the entire
southern hemisphere.

Standing inside a phone booth on a deserted country road is Ryoji
Kaji.
"Hi! I'm not in right now. So, leave your message after the beep!
Bye, bye!" comes Misato's voice over the phone from her answering
machine.
Kaji steps out from the booth and looks at his NERV ID card.
'My last assignment. It's red. Just like blood.' thinks Kaji

Before Misato's desk in her office stands an NERV Intelligence
agent.
"Commander Fuyutski was abducted?" asks Misato.
"Yes. It happened about two hours ago. The Vice-Commander was
last seen in the eight district." replies the agent.
"That's inside this installation. What in the hell were you
idiots in Intelligent doing?" demands Misato.
"Someone inside this organisation must have been involved. We
appreciate your co-operation in this."
"Someone who can outwit section two. Oh, no. You don't think..."
"Ryoji Kaji. He's the suspected mastermind behind this one."
states the agent.
"So, that's why you came for me."
"We believe that you can help us. As your colleagues, we regret
the necessity of including the director of operations as a
suspect. But that is the nature of our profession."
"And of course, considering my relationship with him, it's a
natural precaution." replies Misato as she pulls out her ID card
and gun and places both articles on her desk.
"Your cooperation would be appreciated." replies the agent.

In SEELE's meeting room, Commander Fuyutski is tied to a chair.
"It's been a while." says Keel Lorenz as his monitor appears.
"Are your invitations always so violent, Chairman Keel?" asks
Commander Fuyutski.
"There are a number of matters we need to discuss outside of
Commander Ikari's hearing. The nature of your appearance was
necessary." continues Keel.
"You haven't changed at all. And how this affects me is
inconsequential." replies Commander Fuyutski with a smirk.
"The urge to adjust has already become an active issue. Thus,
these measure were inevitable." states the seventh SEELE member.
"Please understand our situation." adds the third member.
"Oh, now this is surprising. Not the Committee, but SEELE
itself." says Commander Fuyutski thoughtfully..
"Creating a new god is not on our agenda." replies the seventh
SEELE member.
"We hope that you will cooperate, Professor Fuyutsuki." adds the
ninth.
'Professor Fuyutsuki...' thinks the Commander and smiles.

1999 AD. Kyoto

At the University of Kyoto, Kouzou Fuyutski, dressed in his lab
coat, is making his way down a pavement before he becomes aware
of someone calling him.
"...Professor!  Professor Fuyutsuki!" calls a student.
"Oh. Hello, boys." greets Kouzou as he faces a pair of students.
"Hey, why don't you come down and join us for a beer at the
riverwalk?" asks a student.
"What? Again?" replies Kouzou.
"Ryoko and the other girls said they'll come if you'll come. And
didn't the dean say you shouldn't be so unsociable?" asks the
student.
"Alright. You guys win." replies Kouzou reluctantly.

Sitting at a bar is Kouzou and a professor.
"It's nice to have a chance to have drink outside for a change."
says the professor.
"Yes." replies Kouzou simply.
"You know, you're a brilliant scientist. But, you don't place
enough value in your relationships with others." continues the
professor.
"I'm sorry, sir."
"Somehow, I doubt that. However, there's a young bio engineering
student who's just written a very interesting paper. Her name is
Ikari. Have you heard about her before?" asks the professor.
"Ikari? No, sir." replies Kouzou.
"I've told her about your work and she asked if she could meet
you. She'll be calling you soon and I'd like you to take her on
as a research assistant."
"And her name is Ikari? I'll do it, sir."

In his lab at the University, Kouzou is seated behind his desk,
dressed in his lab coat.
"I read your paper last night. There are a few things I have
questions about, but it's really, really very intriguing." says
Kouzou.
"Oh, thank you very much, sir." replies a woman standing before
his desk, also dressed in a lab coat.
"And your full name is Yui Ikari, right?" asks Kouzou.
"Yes, sir." replies Yui.
"So, what are your career plans? Would you like to go into
corporate research or join a school's research facility?"
"Well, I really haven't really though about it much. And in my
case, there may be a third option to be considered."
"Hmm?"
"I'm thinking about getting married and having children. Of
course, that's assuming that I meet the right person."
"Uh-hmm" replies Kouzou, unconvinced.

2015 AD.

"By incorporating the S2 unit into itself, it has achieved its
ultimate form. Evangelion Unit-01." states the second SEELE
member.
"A living god which we created. What blasphemy!" adds the third
member.
"The creation of a supreme being is unacceptable." states Keel.
"Man must not create gods." adds another.
"No one should posses such power. Can we trust Gendou Ikari?"

1999 AD. 

Kouzou is on the phone.
"Gendou Rokubungi? I've heard the name before. No, I've never met
him. But he does seem to be at the core of a lot of rumors.
Rather unsavory rumors at that. What? I was appointed as his
advisor? Well, I'll come bail him out." says Kouzou and puts the
phone down.

Standing outside the police station are Kouzou and Gendou
Rokubungi.
"I've been hearing some interesting things about you, professor.
I've been wanting to meet you for some time." says Gendou as he
holds his bandaged arm.
"Well, getting drunk and starting a fight isn't the best
introduction." replies Kouzou.
"I didn't have a chance to say anything before they jumped me.
I'm not used to being light, professor. I'm quite familiar with
hatred." explains Gendou.
Kouzou and Gendou leave the police station.
"Well, your problems are none of my concern." replies Kouzou.
"And you're exactly the kind of person that I expected professor
Fuyutski to be."

'My first impression of him was that he was a rogue bull. A short
tether. Back then, there were still season in this country. It
was autumn.' remembers Kouzou.

Hiking up the mountain dressed in mountain gear are Kouzou and
Yui.
"Are you serious?" demands Kouzou as he turns around to face Yui.
"Yes, sir. I've been dating Gendou Rokubungi. A lot." replies Yui
with a smile.

'When she told me that, I couldn't hide my shock.' remembers
Kouzou.
"It's rather hard imagining you and him being together." says
Kouzou as he continues walking.
"He's really very nice. It's just that nobody really knows him
quite the way I do. You ought to try, sir." explains Yui.
"In this case, I think that ignorance might be bliss." replies
Kouzou.
"Are you upset that I told him to list you as his counselor?"
"Well, I...I'll admit that he's...interesting. But, I just don't
like him."

'It was generally believed that the real object of Gendou's
overtures to Yui was her obvious talents. That, and the support
of the secret organisation that was arranging funding for her
projects. That organisation was called SEELE.'

2000 AD.

'In the year 2000, the Second Impact occurred.'

2001 AD.

'The first year of the 21th century was... What can I say? Hmm.
It was a time I still find hard to talk about.'

2002 AD. Aichi prefecture.

At the ruins of Toyobashi stands Kouzou and a man.
"Man, it's hot. They say it's going to be another day of summer."
states the man.
"For Japan in its present state, that's nothing new. It's been
summer here for almost a year now. I see it's taking its toll on
you." replies Kouzou.
"Yeah. By the way, you're not going to move to the other city?"
asks the man.
"You mean the neighboring town? That place still reeks of oil.
I don't think I'll ever get used to the smell." replies Kouzou
simply.
"So, that's why you've been working here. I have to say, it
wasn't an easy task to find a man like you."
"Well, they don't have enough doctors here. So I thought I might
as well join and do my best. It's still better than nothing...
What? The south pole? Now?" asks Kouzou.
"An official research team has been put together by the UN board
of directors to investigate the incident. It's only a temporary
organization, but I believe it would be far more beneficial for
the world if you joined this expedition than trying to act as a
doctor in a dump like this, professor Fuyutsuki." replies the
man.
"You mean ex-professor Fuyutski. And another thing, who recom-
mended me? My record should be blank."

2002 AD. Antarctica. South Pole observatory ship

Looking out through the ship window at the destroyed continent
of Antarctica is Kouzou. He's dressed in winter gear.
"This used to be a continent of ice. The entire thing is gone."
says Kouzou sadly.
"Professor Fuyutsuki." comes a voice from behind him.
"I don't believe it. You're alive? I heard that you were with the
Katsuragi research team when the disaster occurred." replies a
surprised Kouzou.
"Fortunately, I returned to Japan one day before the 'incident'
happened." explains Gendou, also dressed warmly.
"Is that so? Mr. Rokubungi, you're a very..."
"Excuse me, but I've changed my name." says Gendou as he hands
a postcard over to Kouzou.
"A post card? Not a business card?" asks Kouzou with a smirk.

Written on the postcard is: 'We have married. Gendou and Yui
Ikari. It's been a long time. How are you?'

"Ikari, Gendou Ikari?" asks Kouzou.
"My wife has been asking me to send you this for quite a while
now. She still quite a fan of yours." replies Gendou.
"Quite an honour. Considering. So, how is Yui doing? Why isn't
she on this expedition?
"Oh, Yui wanted to come as well. But, we have a child to consider
now."

Walking some stairs inside the ship are Kouzou and Gendou.
"There are a lot of ugly rumors about this organisation you work
for. SEELE, or whatever it's called. I don't like the way it
bullies the Committee." states Kouzou.
"I'm afraid that it's necessary. An organisation can't have too
many scruples in this day and age." replies Gendou.
"It may be true that Second Impact has changed a lot of things,
but if this official investigation team had been entirely
composed of SEELE personnel, there would have been trouble. Were
the rest of us just invited here for political convenience?"
demands Kouzou.

2015 AD.

Sitting in a dark isolation room in NERV is Misato. Her knees are
held close to her chest.
'I hate the darkness. All it does is bring back the most horrible
memories.' thinks Misato.

2002 AD.

In a room aboard the observatory ship, sits a teenage Misato.
Outside the door stand Kouzou and a staff member.
"Who is she?" asks Kouzou.
"The only survivor of the research team. Her name is Misato
Katsuragi." replies the staff member as both of them look into
the room.
"Katsuragi? You mean, Dr. Katsuragi's daughter?"
"Yes. But she hasn't said a word in two years."
"How terrible." says Kouzou.
"She saw hell first hand. Her physical could be healed, but
repairing the damage to her mind will take time." explains the
staff member.
"Indeed." replies Kouzou and leaves.

'The results of our investigation aren't easy to analyse. The
complete transformation of the area's atmospheric readings, the
disappearance of all life forms down to micro organisms, the
giant cavern beneath ground zero of where the explosion occurred
and the giant of light. This giant of light is both one of many
mysteries.'

'Later, the United Nations would make an official declaration.
The Second Impact had been caused by a massive meteorite strike
on Antarctica. Someone who knew what I knew, those announcements
were obvious fabrications. SEELE and a man named Keel were behind
the cover up. It became my goal, my obsession to find the real
answers. The truth that was being suppressed. Even if my former
student Yui was involved.'

2003 AD. Hakone. 

Kouzou, dressed in a brown business suit, walks up to the front
door of the Artificial Evolution lab building. Standing at the
door is Yui Ikari, dressed in her white lab coat.
"It's been a while." says Yui
"Yes, it has." replies Kouzou.

At the Commanders office, Gendou is sitting behind his desk.
Opposite him sits Kouzou.
"Why did you conceal the existence of the giant? You knew Second
Impact was going to happen, didn't you? You can talk all you want
how it was just luck, that you returned one day before it
occurred. But how do you explain the fact that you brought back
all the expeditions records and findings? I know for a fact your
personal files contain more than we recovered, Ikari!" exclaims
Kouzou angrily as he slams a folder full of top secret documents
on Gendou's desk. 
"I'm surprised that these weren't destroyed." replies Gendou.
"Sloppy housework. I checked into your estate as well. Bringing
up a child and educating him is expensive, but isn't this a bit
much for a civil servant?" asks Kouzou.
"Very impressive, professor Fuyutski. Perhaps you should be
teaching economics?"
"I'm going to go public with the real truth about you, SEELE,
Second Impact and the Dead Sea Scrolls. What you've done is
completely inexcusable!" threatens Kouzou.
"As you wish. But first, there is something I'd like to show
you."

Standing inside a lift are Kouzou and Gendou, both of them are
wearing hard hats.
"How far down are we going?" asks Kouzou.
"Worried, montrasaur?" replies Gendou.
"A little bit."
Suddenly, the elevator appears from the darkness and presents
Kouzou with a magnificent site. The Geofront.
"Oh, my God!" exclaims Kouzou.
"We didn't make this. Someone or something else excavated this
cavity. Although 89% of it was buried." states Gendou.
"Then, this was originally a giant sphere? Just like the
underground sphere at the south pole?"
"Yes. The data is virtually identical."
"Are you intending to repeat that tragedy once more? Are you?"
demands Kouzou.
"Determine that with your own eyes, professor. This Geofront is
what has been consuming the total resources of the human race."

An elevator inside the building situated in the Geofront opens
with Gendou and Kouzou emerging from it. Sitting at a desk before
a computer is a red haired woman.
"Oh, professor Fuyutsuki." says the woman as she sees Kouzou.
"Dr. Akagi? You're here too?" asks Kouzou.
"Yes. This is the ideal place for advancing our research towards
creating the ultimate bio computer system."
"Hmm." replies Kouzou, unconvinced.
"I'm going to name them the Magi." continues Dr. Akagi.
"The Magi? The three wise men of the east? Is this what you
wanted to show me?" asks Kouzou.
"No. It's over this way. Ritsuko, I'll be right back." says Dr.
Akagi as she stands up.

Suspended from the roof in a lab is a giant being with a yellow
head piece and five red eyes.
"Unbelievable. Is this the giant of light?" asks Kouzou.
"No. In Gehirn, we refer to the Second Impact giant as Adam. But
this isn't the one." replies Dr. Akagi.
"Then, what is this?"
"This is what man has created from Adam. Eva."
"Eva?" asks Kouzou.
"The operation to revive Adam is refereed to project E. This is
Eva Unit-00. Our system prototype." explains Gendou.
"A prototype? Prototype of what?" asks Kouzou.
"Fuyutsuki, will you join us in creating a new genesis for
mankind?" asks Gendou.

2015 AD.

Standing before Unit-01 in the seventh cage are Maya and Ritsuko.
"Uh, ma'am?" asks Maya.
"Oh, sorry. I zoned out. Let's proceed with Rei's repeat test."
replies Ritsuko, snapping back to reality.
"I haven't seen Major Katsuragi today." says Maya.
"Uh... Neither have I." replies Ritsuko.

2005 AD.

At the cafeteria at the University of Tokyo-2 sits a teenage
Misato and Ritsuko.
"Huh? Katsuragi?" asks Ritsuko.
"Yeah, Misato Katsuragi! Pleased to meet ya!" replies Misato.

'Dear mother, I have just become acquainted with a girl named
Katsuragi. Most people tend to keep their distance from me once
they find out who I am, which forces me to remember how important
your name is around here. But, Misato is different. She's very
open and honest. Even with me. I also understand that she's the
only survivor from the original research team. She used to be
mute, but she talks almost constantly now. Like she's trying to
make up for lost time!' writes Ritsuko.

'Dear Ritsuko, I'm underground so much these days that I feel
like a mole. And I'm getting royally sick and tired of living on
the boxed lunches they provide here. That should improve, though.
Up on the surface, they've started construction of Tokyo-3.'
writes Dr. Akagi.

'Misato hasn't showed up at college for the last few days and I
finally forced her to tell me why. Talk about stupid! She spent
the whole week having sex with her new boyfriend! A whole week!
I think there's another side to her I haven't seen before and
it...disturbs me. Well, she introduced me to him today and he's
handsome alright. But, he's sloppy grooming and attitude really
bother me.' writes Ritsuko.

'You've always been a little boy, shy Ritsuko dear. I think it's
because you only had a mother and no men in your life. And I'm
afraid that I never reeled you in as often as I should have. I'm
ashamed to admit it, but I've only acted like a mother when it
suited my whims. Which wasn't often.' writes Dr. Akagi in return.

2004 AD.

In a park stand Kouzou and Yui. Yui has brought Shinji along in
his stroller.
"It's the same weather again. It's sad now that autumn has
disappeared from this country. According to the scenario outlined
in SEELE's Dead Sea Scrolls, the Third Impact will definitely
occur in a little over ten years." says Kouzou sadly. 
"Prevention of the ultimate tragedy. That is the sole purpose of
the organisations SEELE and Gehirn." replies Yui.
"I support your intentions, Yui. Not SEELE's."
"Professor Fuyutsuki, it would be extremely dangerous to go
public with the real truth." says Yui. 
"Don't worry. I've given all of the documents to Gendou. It's not
something one can do alone. But, we're not going to repeat what
happened last time. And luckily, I've been given a warning. It
would seem that it would be no problem for them to dispose of me
quickly if I did go public." replies Kouzou.
"Even for those who survived, it's still an easy task to erase
people."
"That's still not a reason for you becoming a test subject, Yui."
says Kouzou.
"Everything is going as it should be. That's why I'm doing it for
SEELE. For Shinji..." replies Yui as she looks at her son.

In the second underground experimental installation in Hakone,
preparations are being made to activate Eva Unit-01.
"Gestrudo experiment will begin in five minutes." reports a
technician.
Running around the laboratory is Shinji.
"Why is there a child in here?" asks Kouzou.
"This is Commander Ikari's son." replies Dr. Akagi.
"Ikari, this isn't a day care center. This is an important
event." points out Kouzou.
"I'm sorry, professor. I'm the one who brought Shinji here."
replies Yui.
"But Yui, this is your experiment today."
"That's why I brought him. I want to show him how bright the
future will be." replies Yui.

'Those words would prove to be Yui's last. A freak accident wiped
her from this existence. Just as I would have hoped it would.
What a disgusting woman I am. Ritsuko, after that day, Commander
Ikari changed completely.' remembers Dr. Akagi.

At Commander Ikari's office, Kouzou stands before Gendou's desk.
"Where have you been all week? I understand your grief, but you
must know that your life no longer belongs to you alone." says
Kouzou.
"I know. Fuyutski, today we will begin a new project. I've
already made the proposal to chairman Keel." replies Gendou.
"Y-You mean it's approved?" stammers Kouzou.
"Yes. That which has never been achieved, the path with becoming
one with God. The Human Instrumentality Project." replies Gendou.

2008 AD.

'Dear mother, congratulations of your Magi theorem. I have good
news too. It's decided, I will officially join Gehirn! I'll start
working on project E next month.' writes Ritsuko.

Walking inside of headquarters is Ritsuko, dressed in a lab coat.
"Who are you?" demands a security guard.
"Dr. Ritsuko Akagi. Technological development section. Here's my
ID. I came to see how the new command center installation was
coming along, but I got lost." replies Ritsuko as she hands her
ID card to the guard.
The guard scans her ID and finds no problems.
"The Commander and Dr. Akagi will see you in the command center."
replies the guard as he hands the card back to Ritsuko.

Where the Magi are stationed, Gendou is sitting on a chair.
Before him stands Dr. Akagi.
"Are you alright?" asks Dr. Akagi.
"Yes. I have no regrets concerning my work." replies Gendou.
"You're lying. You still can't forget about Yui, can you? But
that's acceptable to me." says Dr. Akagi as she puts her arms
around his neck and kisses him.
From above the Magi, Ritsuko sees this event clearly.

2010 AD. 

"And this is Gehirn headquarters." says Gendou to the little girl
standing next to him.
Dr. Akagi and Ritsuko appear.
"Good morning, Commander. Did you bring your child today? Oh,
wait. I could have sworn you had a son." says Dr. Akagi.
"Oh, no. This isn't Shinji. I have decided to take care of an
acquaintances child. Her name is Rei Ayanami." replies Gendou
"Hello, Rei! I'm Ritsuko." greets Ritsuko.
'She resembles someone... Yui?' thinks Dr. Akagi as she looks at
the blue haired girl.

Typing away at her computer is Dr. Akagi.
"All the records containing Rei Ayanami have been deleted?
They're all blank. What's going on?"

Standing at the Magi control box are Dr. Akagi and Ritsuko.
"Magi Casper, Magi Balthazar, Magi Melchior. The Magi are the
three aspects of myself. Myself as a scientist, myself as a
mother, and myself as a woman. The three aspects that combine to
make one whole." states Dr. Akagi.
"The three faces of mother. And all that's left to do is turn the
power on." adds Ritsuko.
"Uh-hmm."
"I'll leaving early today. Misato just got back." says Ritsuko
as she gathers up her papers.
"Oh, yes. I'd heard she joined Gehirn. In Germany, if I recall."
"Yes. She's with the third branch office."
"So, she's having a long distance relationship."
"It didn't work out." replies Ritsuko.
"They broke up? But they always seemed like such a perfect
couple."
"The interaction between men and women isn't very logical."
"You're always so cool and analytical about the things. Aren't
you afraid you'll lose your chance at happiness?" asks Dr. Akagi.
"First, I have to find a definition of happiness. It's been a
while since I went out." replies Ritsuko.
"Well, have a good one."
"See you later." says Ritsuko as she leaves.
Sitting in her chair, Dr. Akagi becomes aware of a presence.
"Hmm? Oh. Did you need me for something, Rei?" ask Dr. Akagi.
"I lost my way, Doctor." replies Rei.
"Is that so? Well, do you want to come with me then?"
"No thanks."
"But, how will you get home all by yourself?"
"That's not your business, old hag." replies Rei.
"Old hag?"
"I can find my way home by myself, old hag."
"Ah... You shouldn't call someone an 'old hag', Rei." says Dr.
Akagi.
"But, you are an old hag, aren't you?" asks Rei.
"I'm getting mad. Commander Ikari will spank you for this, you
little..."
"The Commander is the one who calls you that." 
"Wh-what..."
"He says 'that old hag is annoying', 'that old hag is of no use
anymore'." says Rei.
Those taunting words repeat themselves in Dr. Akagi's mind.
"The Commander is the one who calls you that." repeats Rei.
"He says 'that old hag is annoying', 'that old hag is of no use
anymore'." adds Yui.
"You little bitch! You're replaceable too! Did you know that,
Rei? You're just as replaceable as me!" says Dr. Akagi angrily
as she strangles Rei.
Suddenly, the child goes limp.
"Oh...oh...oh...oh, no!" says Dr. Akagi disbelievingly.
She then throws herself of the Magi system and falls to her
death, covering the computer and floor in her own blood.

'The Instrumentality Committee, dissolved the Gehirn research
organisation. In order to execute the project that Gehirn had
conceived, a new special organisation, called NERV, was formed.
All of Gehirn's existing personnel were transferred into NERV.
All except one. The one who had rendered such a remarkable
service to the Magi system. Dr. Akagi.' remembers Kouzou.

2015 AD.

The door opens to the room where Commander Fuyutski is held tied
up.
"Well, here we go." says Kaji as he enters the room.
"Is that you?" asks Commander Fuyutski.
"Yes it is. It's been a while, hasn't it?" replies Kaji as he
begins to untie the man.
"You know, this action will probably result in your death."
states Commander Fuyutski as he rubs his sore wrists.
"All I want is to get closer to the truth. To have it in my
grasp. And it also seems that they're catching on to the fact
that I smuggled a sample of Adam for Commander Ikari. If only
money could buy self preservation... Things aren't looking good
for me." says Kaji sadly.

In the cell where Misato was held, an agent enters holding a
tray. Inside it is Misato's ID card and gun.
"Here. Thank you for your cooperation." says the agent.
"Is it over now?" asks Misato.
"Yes it is. A solution to the problem has been found."
"I see. Where is he?" asks Misato as she puts the gun into her
holster.
"I wouldn't know that." replies the agent.

Leaning against a wall in an abandoned warehouse building is
Kaji. He becomes aware of a presence.
"Oh, hi. You're a little late, aren't you?" greets Kaji.
A gun shot rings out.

"I'm home." says Misato as she enters her apartment.
Leaning against a wall listening to his SDAT is Shinji.
Misato sits down at the kitchen table. Misato sees that there is
a message on her answering machine. With a shaky hand, she
presses the play button.
"Katsuragi, it's me. I'm sure you're listening to this message,
especially after I caused you so much trouble. Sorry. Please tell

Misato rests her hands against the table and begins to cry.
"You fool... You were always such a fool..." sobs Misato as she
pushes the table weakly.
She then falls to her knees and begins to weep uncontrollably.
Shinji pokes his head out from his room and then retracts it. He
lies on his bed and puts a pillow over his head.
'All I could do was run. Run away from Misato. There was nothing
I could say. I was just a child.' thinks Shinji sadly as he hears
Misato weep.
