Kaji Ryouji, 31 years old. He works in NERV-1 before coming to Japan with Asuka, EVA-02 and embryo state Adam. He belongs to the Department of Special Inspection in Nerv and Department of the Interior Japan. His true identity is the spy who works for Japanese Government to investigate Nerv secretly. His main job is to find out the secrets of Adam and his location in NERV Headquarter. He is also the ex-boyfriend of Katsuragi Misato. They have known each other in university and once lived together. They had separated because Misato realized that she had always wanted to find a man like her father and became afraid to be with him. He is also interested in planting watermelons.
