Hikari was the class representation of Shinji's class and Asuka's only friend. Hikari and Asuka always called Shinji, Touji and Kensuke "The Three Stooges". Hikari has three sisters and her parents died a long time ago. She has a crush on Touji and is willing to take care of his lunch problem by making him lunch for school. She may act fierce sometimes, but she is a very kind girl.

Hikari's home was destroyed when EVA-00 self destructed. Therefore, she was forced to move to another city, away from Tokyo-3.
