| History of EVA-00 Prototype Modified
EVA-00 Prototype Modified is actually upgraded from EVA-00 Prototype after being damaged while overheating. In order to improve the performance during combat mode, the techniques that are used on EVA-02 have been used on EVA-00.
The Techniques of EVA-00 Prototype Modified
NERV didn't do any upgrading of the internal organic components of EVA-00's S2 engine. It is believed that only new armor and shoulder blades with the Progressive Knife have been added.

Since it's impossible to upgrade the internal organic components, the stability of EVA-00 still doesn't improve and sometimes causes it to go berserk. But after the upgrading process, EVA-00 become more suitable for fighting against the Angels. Unfourtunately, EVA-00 Modified is no longer present as it self destructed when fighting the 16th Angel. | |
