Scientific Name - caudopunctatus
Common Name – shellie - redfin caudo
Locality - Lake Tanganyika
pH – 8.2-9.0
Temperature (in F) - 72-82F (78-80 for breeding)
Max size (in inches) 1-3"
Minimum tank size - at least 10g
Sociability - best in species tank or very 'carefully planned' tanganyikan setups
Breeding - One of the lake tanganyika shell dwellers (shellies)
Temperament - Same as sociability
Comments – nice little active fish ... great for a 10/15/20L species set up ... likes sand and needs snail shell homes of suitable sizes (sm-md-lg-etc..)...males are active harem spawners and defend territories
Personal Experience - the white 'sand' stuff in the pics is aragonite (to buffer high/hard) and is mixed in with estes black sand for a pleasing salt and pepper effect ..... this tank and shellie group was purchased for an xmas present for friends of ours...
