FamilyCrenicichla
Scientific Name - undescribed sp. -
(often incorrectly labled as C.sedentaria)

Common Name – belly crawler/green hopper

Locality - Frequently imported from the Rio Meta drainage system of Colombia
pH – 6.4-7.2
Temperature (in F) - 76-88F (82-86F for breeding)
Max size (in inches) - usually remains less than 7"'
Minimum tank size - at least 20L or 30g minimum
Sociability - Supposedly 'peaceful' for a pike cichlid - but still a pike ... Depends on fish ... Some are semi-agressive, while others are really aggressive
Breeding - Egglayer
Temperament - Same as sociability

Comments – pike cichlids in general are known to be aggressive but some of the dwarves are reputedly 'social' community fish

Personal Experience - i had this fish QT'd in a 10g with a betta, a bristlenose(4in), and a peppered cory... the pike promptly killed the betta overnight by chewing off all it's fins and most of it's scales... and the next night he managed to kill the bristlenose as well (which sorta pissed me off there)... suprisingly he leaves the cory completely alone (so far at least - going on 2 weeks now as of 10-19-2000)
