FamilyHerotilapia
Scientific Name - multispinosa

Common Name – rainbow cichlid

Locality - Both the Pacific and Atlantic slopes of Honduras and Costa Rica … found in the lakes and swamps... also known to inhibit rainy season puddles in fields etc...
pH – 6.6-7.6
Temperature (in F) - 74-88F (80-84F for breeding)
Max size (in inches) - 3-4"
Minimum tank size - at least 30g
Sociability - Depends on fish ... Some are quite friendly, while others may be aggressive
Breeding - Egglayer... Fish will form strong pair bonds ... They breed often … very prolific
Temperament - Same as sociability

Comments – only fish in it's genus ... common name of 'rainbow cichlid' refers to it's penchant for changing it's coloration for little or no reason ... water hardness and conditions also affect coloration ... general coloration is a golden olive-tan with black markings

Personal Experience - I had a pair where the male would eat the fry around the one week mark so i had to catch them early to save any for grow out ... sadly that original pair did not survive the cross country move ... fortunately however 20 of their offspring did and after trading in most to the LFS i now have about a half dozen in grow out in a 20L awaiting pair formations ... i have found this species to be one of the least aggressive of the CA's - almost like an acara
