How I, Weezer006, was affected by the CHS tragedy You've probably heard this around a thousand times, but I feel visitors should be informed about what happened at Columbine High School on April 20th, 1999.
I was sitting in lunch when I heard that my middle school was going to be put into lockdown. All they (administration/teachers) would tell us was that there was an "incident" at CHS. We sat around, not being allowed into the halls, for around 3 hours. Rumors circulated: from pipebombs to shotguns (at least we thought they were rumors). At around 3:15, I turned on the T.V. and finally saw what it was all about. I was shocked-CHS was a real preppy type of school in a middle class neighborhood.
Now as I look back, I realize that we must live day by day and let the outcasts into our lives. They will always be there-from the apple freaks (Proapple.com) to the psycho freaks (Pyro_Death??). I'm not some psychological freak, but I'd say that we should remember that every day is getting shorter and shorter and that we should never live to regret our actions. I'm not encouraging the growth of outcasts either. Just remember that we all are people with minds that are sometimes hidden under clothes, makeup, and attitude. For example, the two people mentioned above are some of my good friends. They both may be instantly declaimed as geeks or freaks but I decided to get to know them and found they were both real cool people underneath.
So get to know that geek who always hangs out in the library or that goth who dresses in full black and acts like a dirty. Maybe they will be more than you think.
