AR15
The AR15 or M16A2 is currently in use by many different departments in many different roles. It has proven itself a dependable and effective small caliber weapon. Although in a sniper capacity it has a somewhat limited performance after 300 yards, and the bullet weight is not as much as most would call a "man-stopper" size round. It does have use as a sniper support weapon. A spotters weapon, or "withdrawl cover fire weapon".
