Who Is That Baby?

           

              Just who is that baby in that manger scene you keep seeing?

              What do you know about Him?

              What does He mean to you?

             
                     
           
           
              Isa 9:6-7

              For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the
              government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called ,
              Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father,Prince of
              Peace.

              Of the increase of his government and peace there will be no end.
              He will reign on David's throne and over his kingdom,
              establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from
              that time on and forever. The zeal of the LORD Almighty will
              accomplish this.
               

                     
               

              1. Mighty :  see the power in the manger

                Luke 1:35

                The angel answered, "The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and
              the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one
              to be born will be called the Son of God.

               Eph 3:20

                Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask
              or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us,

               
               I Cor 4:20
               
                For the kingdom of God is not a matter of talk but of power.

               
               Isa 41:10
               
                So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am
              your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you
              with my righteous right hand.

               
               Col 11:1

                being strengthened with all power according to his glorious
              might so that you may have great endurance and patience, and
              joyfully
               
               

               

              2. God:  see the glory in the manger

               Ex 15:11

                "Who among the gods is like you, O LORD? Who is like you--
              majestic in holiness, awesome in glory, working wonders?
               

               Ps 19:1

                For the director of music. A psalm of David. The heavens
              declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his
              hands.
               

               Heb 1:3

                The Son is the radiance of God's glory and the exact
              representation of his being, sustaining all things by his
              powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he
              sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven.
               

               This Christmas I need a bigger perspective on
               
               

                  ------------------------------------
               
               

              3. Eternal:  see the hope in the manger.

               Rom 5:3-5

                Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we
              know that suffering produces perseverance;
              perseverance, character; and character, hope.
              And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his
              love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us.
               

                Rom 15:4

                For everything that was written in the past was written to
              teach us, so that through endurance and the encouragement of the
              Scriptures we might have hope.
               

                The answer to all the world’s questions is Jesus

                I Cor 1:20

              Where is the wise man? Where is the scholar? Where is the
              philosopher of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of
              the world?
               

              This Christmas, I need to trust that:

              4. Eternal:  see the love in the manger.
               

               John 3:16
               
                "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son,
              that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal
              life.
               

               Rom 8:39

                neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation,
              will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in
              Christ Jesus our Lord.
               

                This Christmas, I need love for:

              May this Christmas be a time of renewal, of remembering all He means to us!
