But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet,
and when thou hast shut the door,
pray to the Father which is in secret:
and thy Father
which seest in secret
shall reward thee openly
But when you pray, use not vain repetitions,
as the heathen do:
for they think that they
shall be heard for their much speaking
Be not ye therefore like unto them:
for your Father knoweth
what things ye have need
of,
before you ask him.
After this manner therefor pray ye:
Our Father which art in heaven,
Hallowed be thy name
Thy Kingdom come:
Thy will be done in earth,
as it is in Heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our debts,
as we forgive our debtors
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil,
For Thine is the kingdom,
and the power,
and the
glory, forever.
Amen
I must clarify my statement of this being the Disciples prayer.
They asked Jesus Christ how they
should pray,
first He stated it should be in secret.
Second He stated it should not be saying the
same words over and over again,
and Thirdly He gave them an example of how they should pray.
He did not mean for this prayer to become the Lord’s Prayer,
because after all He was Lord why
would he pray to Himself. He meant it to be an example of how we should pray.
Not the same
words over and over again, but a blueprint of a good prayer.
We should acknowledge that He
is our Heavenly Father,
We should bless Him and bend our knee to his greatness,
We
should pray that He will bring His Kingdom back to earth.
We should also acknowledge that His
Will not our own be done.
We should pray for our needs and for forgiveness.
We should also
forgive others for what they have done to us.
We should ask for help in staying out of trouble
and ask Him to keep us out of trouble.
Lastly, we should give Him all the honor and the glory,
the power that is His by right.
The word Amen means So Be It!
Amen
