Tse looked up at the darkening sky, "Damn, this gives me only a week to find the shadow portal." Tse had learnt of the Shadow Portal from an old book called The Tome of Ineffable Darkness hidden deep within the dusty vaults known only to a few of the Shadow Clan. It gave account of the practices of the Hurricanes Eye and their twisted and warped philosophies. He had discovered that the shadow portal was an entranceway to the ancient temple of the Hurricane's Eye, accessible only during the festival of the Two Moons. It was hidden in the town of Dinang. Tse pulled his cloak tighter around his body and began to slowly walk towards the town. He had been walking past outlying farm houses and freshly tilled fields for about an hour and now he was nearing the large northern gate, torches cast long and dark shadows flickering across the town walls. "Halt stranger ! State your business." The voice came from the top of the town wall where three guardsmen patrolled the perimeter of the town. Tse strained to see who addressed him and said "I am Tse Cheung a lonely traveler hoping to enjoy the pleasures of your fair city." All three guardsmen laughed, finally one of them spoke, a large man with a short beard underneath his helmet." Fair City, Fair City !! It is indeed obvious you have never been to Dinang" He laughed again. "Let him in." As soon as the order was given a small door in the larger gate was opened and Tse was allowed to pass through. "You might want to try the Inn of Sleeping Cats, stranger," said the young looking guard who opened the gate. "Thank you" said Tse. Dinang was an unremarkable town everything about it professed normality, there were a fair number of street traders about all trying to outdo the others. They offered spices, food, household goods and weapons. Tse knew he had to get to the poor quarter it being the oldest part of the town and also the location of the portal. He moved on. A chill wind whipped through the back alley; Tse hated these nights. Standing in a run down church doorway Tse had an unobstructed view of the ancient square. This place was beautiful once, splendid gothic architecture assailed his senses from every direction and the derelict houses still held an air of majesty. The cold started to creep through his gloves and he could see his breath mist as he exhaled. Tse checked his equipment for the seventh time. He was about to cross the square to the old fountain when he sensed something was wrong and out of place. He presses back into the doorway and waited. A faint footfall brought Tse to his senses. He felt the hard cold granite of the church doorway as he slowly drew his sword, faint energy pulsed along the blade. A shadowy humanoid figure began to cross the square, about 10 ft from the fountain it halted for a moment, overly cautious this one, Tse thought. A couple of moments later it continued to move towards the fountain. After a brief look around the square It leant over the fountain and then leapt in and disappeared. Tse left the cover of the church doorway and sprinted over to the fountain, that could be Citange, Tse thought. The fountain was made of brass and the water was emptied into the base by strange statue holding water jars. Tse placed his hand in one of the water jars and managed to find a button he had read about. He pressed the button and stepped back. The water in the fountain base parted to reveal a large black hole. Tse hesitated for a moment and then jumped down. Tse landed lightly on his feet, he was in a small empty dusty room, there was no sign of the other figure only slight footprints in the dust. As his eyes began to adjust to the darkness Tse could make out a wooden door in the west wall. Adrenaline began to surge through his body Tse moved to the door and began to look for a handle, a movement from behind the door was heard, Tse moved into a defensive crouch. There was a deafening splintering of wood and metal as the door burst outwards under the onslaught of superhuman force. Tse felt a tremendous blow into his stomach which sent him careening across the room to slam into the opposite wall. The wind was knocked from his lungs, as he barely managed to parry a vicious blow aimed at his head, silhouetted against illumination from behind the figure, Tse could see that this was not entirely human. The creature stood six feet tall and possessed a powerful physique. It was completely naked. The dark skin could be seen to be slightly scaled and the eyes where a glowing crimson red. Large talons extended from wicked looking hands. The creature said "I know who you are, Tse Cheung, it is beyond your ability to prevent what is in motion, it is irrelevant now anyway. You are about to visit blessed oblivion." At this the demon resumed it's attack. Tse parried and blocked a number of brutal attacks from the creature. Each time his sword flashed green sparks which outlined the creatures evil visage. Tse's attacks were equally turned away by the ferocious demon. A wide arcing slash caused Tse to drop to one knee and drive his sword upwards. Tse could feel the sword bite through flesh and he continued to drive his weapon upwards. The demon howled in pain and then went silent. It fell to the cold floor as Tse released his sword, ancient energies caressing the ancient blade. Tse leaned back against the wall panting heavily. Regaining his strength he sheathed his sword and then made his way through the one door in the room from where the demon had come from. This room was bare also. Tse noticed that in the ceiling of the room a large gem was fitted in it's center. Flowing from the gem was a ghostly pale light which extended down to the floor. Where the light touched Tse could see a dark portal etched with silver runes, unknown to him. Tse reached down and grabbed the portal handle. He pulled with all his might and eventually the portal moved. Dust thrown up from the portal caused him to cough. He looked down into the portal to see a torch lit corridor, he took a deep breath and descended into the Temple. The last thing he heard was the demon evaporating away.
