one hot summer day

we grew as friends

shared wonderful memories

you taught me patience
helped me vent my hate

you showed me my actions
when i became irrational
you explained my deepest thoughts
showed me who i was
though i didn't want
to be that person
when it was easier to hate
you reminded me to love
or at least to understand
you are the little angel
that sits on my left shoulder
and refelects my rational self
while i act on the words
of the devil on my right
you've helped me through my problems
and confided yours in me
(though not without some prodding)
and through it all you've been honest
not a single lie to hurt me
you've told me when i do my wrongs
you praise me on my rights
you support me
