Merry Christmas 2004!

Highlights of our year!

Welcome to George and Kay's 8th web-based Christmas letter. Thankfully, both of us continue to be blessed with good health, a growing family, plenty of projects to keep us busy and a continued love for our home in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado, just outside of Denver.

Forefront in our minds is the recent birth (December 16, 2004) of Eric and Cindy's first child, Jackson Nicholas Berzsenyi ( 8lb., 4oz.); Jackson was born in Jacksonville, Florida, where Eric was just honored with a leadership award at Citicorp. He and Cindy have been quite busy with the renovations of several old houses in historic Jacksonville this year culminating in their move only 3 weeks before Jackson's birth.

Amazingly, the whole family was able to gather at Estes Park (Colorado) in February, surprising Kay with a huge birthday celebration. Terry and Lydia drove all night both to and from Indiana with Chris and Morgan sleeping blissfully. It was their final trip to Colorado from Indiana, as they moved to Putnam Valley, New York in August. Their house there is really awesome, about an hour north of Manhattan. George and Kay spent Thanksgiving with them, enjoying their new locale along with Tara and Josh (both in College now, back in Indiana.) Luckily, they bought a nice big home, so there will be room for their new baby, expected in May! (Remember the growing family mentioned!)

George and Kay were so happy to host Christopher in March on his first solo trip to Colorado during spring break. It took many years for the grandchildren to start solo visits - and we thoroughly enjoyed visiting Dinosaur ridge, the Museaum of Natural History and Buffalo Bill's museum and grave on Lookout Mountain with Chris!

As we compose this letter, Daniel and A'gi, Isabell and Sophie are marking the 3rd anniversary of their move to Hungary. The girls and Daniel now speak Hungarian and Daniel's new business, FOTO PERFECT, is beginning to prosper. He has continued to teach 1 class each year (in English) on Quality Management at an international graduate school in Budapest. A'gi has been traveling a lot in her new position in GE Medical Systems, as her 'region' encompasses much of Eastern Europe.

One exciting trip that Kay took this fall was to visit Daniel and his family for 2 weeks in early November. It was really great having time to spend with the grand-daughters as well as A'gi and Daniel. While Kay didn't manage to get down to the Balaton to see their new house at Nemesvita, they've assured her that she can visit there next time.

Adam, AJ and their three, Brianna, Alexandra (now also known as A.J.) and Collin have been very busy with all their activities this year. The 'year-round' school schedule of the children allows for multiple vacations for them year round and they've been making the most of them. This fall, however, George and Kay stayed with the 3 kids (and 2 dogs) so that Adam and AJ could attend Adam's 20 year high school reunion. Isn't that amazing?!! After staying put for 5 years (since Collin was a baby), Adam and his family are moving out of Highlands Ranch (Colorado) to Aurora (Colorado). Unfortunately, our trip to see them will increase to almost 1 hour, but we'll still visit often, not only to see the grandchildren (and their parents), but also because Adam and AJ are now excellent bridge partners!

After postponing advertising until after Kay and George's trip to Texas last Christmas, then until after Kay's January trip to New York to help Lydia look at houses, then the February family get together and Chris' March visit, Kay finally got on the ball and began paying for clicks to drive customers to 'kayscards.com'. She and George began printing and shipping cards in April and tried to stay at home for the next six months. Now, the details have been worked out so that they can travel again, creating orders digitally, with a contractor handling printing and shipping back in Colorado. Thus, they were able to travel to San Francisco this December (15th - 21st) for George to take part in a panel discussion at Berkeley, on the development of mathematical talent at the Mathematics Science Research Institute. It was great getting to see many old friends, and even get to be hosted by Sheng Wu and his family for a short visit after the conference. Sheng was a student of George's in Beaumont in the early '70s.

Kay's Mom, Xelpho, is now 91 years old and continues to live in Irving, Texas, being taken care of by a lovely couple. While her dementia is quite severe, she continues to be in very good health.

Happy 2005 to all our friends and relatives!
