The Lifstyle
Let's face it, the movies are a legend, the comic books and novels are phenomenal and the card game is no small passing commodity. I've collected Star Wars memorabilia since I was twelve and my collection has been growing ever since. To me, the Star Wars series is more than just a collection of movies, it has blossomed into a way of life. Star Wars enthusiasts have become their own little sub-culture with as much diversity as the market places of Tatooine, and as much tradition and rank as the Galactic Empire. For instance, whenever I attend a convention, I notice that the camaraderie between Star Wars fans has easily spanned the age, sex, race, religion and creed gaps. I love nothing more than to see a 40 year old enthusiast and a twelve year old enthusiast talking to each other without even noticing how far apart in age they are. Try doing that in any household in the world. At the same time, however, a certain degree of respect is given to the older generation. This is because they were the ones who collected the original figurines back when they were just cool toys. They attended the grand opening of all of the trilogy's movies. This isn't a "required" degree of respect either. It's just there; as inexplicable as the force.
    The Collectables
There is just no disputing it, the Star Wars collectables are some of the best
around and we all know it. Wheather newly manufactured or priceless artifacts, the idea is the same; make Star Wars come to life.
In the Star Wars community, there are all kinds of collectables. From the basic and expected shirts and toys to the outlandish mugs and yes,...Christmas specials(ack!), the Star Wars universe is an infinitely large and ever changing place.
The Comic Books
With comics being a popular pastime with Star Wars fans, there was no alternative but to make Star Wars a part of this world too. There are many Star Wars comic books. Some of the most popular titles are "Rouge Squadron", "Tales of the Jedi" and of course comics with Mara Jade.
I think that the novels should also be included in this section because without them, the "expanded universe" of Star Wars just wouldn't make sense. In my opinion, the novels are second in the Star Wars story only to the movies which, of course, essentially are the very essence of Star Wars. There are many novels and most are sequels to the movies. I've read many of them and they are very interesting books. Most book stores will carry them in their sci-fi section.
The Card Game
Ah yes. The card game. This card game by  Decipher Inc.  is a great game. It's well thought out and well structured. In my opinion, this game, as with all of Decipher's games require more strategy than other card games and this one in particular is just plain...cool. The object of the game is to drain your opponent's force pile(deck) while recieving minimal losses on your side. You play each game as a particular side of the force(dark or light) and you get to control characters such as Darth Vader and Obi Wan Kenobi(Even Yoda! Very cool.). Decipher holds sanctioned tournaments for their games and the winners recieve awards. One of Decipher's newest games is Young Jedi. It is a more battle based game than the original and is based on Episode I. It's also a fun game to play.
The Video Games
The "Dark Forces" series and "Rogue Squadron" were, and still are, incredible games. My personal favorite though would probably be "Jedi Knight:Dark Forces II". This game by  LucasArts is one of the best out there. It's star is Kyle Katarn, a Han Solo style character who is destined to become a jedi. The villian is Jerec and his band of dark jedi. Your character moves through the game gaing in jedi skill and prowess until he finally fights Jerec. A 10 on the game rating scale.
The Movies
Last but certainly, and in fact impossibly, not least the movies. This is the real deal. The back bone of all of the Star Wars universe...the episodes. We've all seen them before IV, V, VI and now episodes I, II, and III. These are the true stories, the very ones that took place "a long time ago, in a galaxy far far away...". Not much can be inferred about them other than, THEY ROCK! THEY'RE THE BEST! HALE TO STAR WARS FOREVER!!!
