Approximately 25,000 Standard Years before the Battle of Yavin. BBY = Before Battle of Yavin Very little is known about the galaxy's Dark Ages, those millenia preceding the founding of the Old Republic. Civilizations were created and destroyed on thousands of worlds, the names of many lost in time. What is observable from history however, is that most sentient life began looking past the bounds of their own worlds and sought to explore beyond the restrictions of their planets. Unfortunately for many races, this uncontrollable expansion and diversion over eons proved to be fatal for many cultures, sometimes "homeworlds" and even whole races. Who knows exactly how many different sentients have perished at the hands of other beings. Those too cruel or naive to see what great injustice they were commiting. What is known however, is that, out of the Dark Ages, there would be a great new power created. A government so vast, wise and powerful that they would bring much needed order and justice to the galaxy. The most famous and respected ruling body ever recorded. The glorious Old Republic. And with this power came an even greater one. A new group of sentients, more advanced than any other life-form but at the same time exactly the same. The Jedi Knights were born. Coming of age pehaps out of necessity to serve the Old Republic as the teachers, healers, judges, and protectors... 25,000+ BBY Pre-hyperdrive era. Trade and diplomacy between the various cultures of the galaxy were attempted. Alderaan's records shows their earliest beginnings of exploration. C. 25,000 BBY The Old Republic begins to grow and establish itself as a peaceful ruling government. Much needed justice is brought to galaxy. Order of the Jedi Knights is formed (presumably on Ossus, in the Adega system). NOTE: See Navigational Computer for Information on Ossus. 25,000-4,000 BBY Expansion throughout the galaxy is governed by the Old Republic. Somewhere in this period Xim the Despot conquers much territory before being defeated by Old Republic forces. In limited written history, Dark Jedi are first mentioned. Somewhere in this period is the Great Hyperspace War and the Hundred Years Darkness. An evil conglomerate of beings called the Sith will be conquered and ruled by a Dark Jedi elite who become the first Dark Lords of the Sith. The renegade Sith, Naga Sadow, flees the Dark Lords and goes to Yavin IV. His followers will degenerate into the Massassi, remembered for their extraordinary achievments in the construction of their great temples (see C. 4,000 + 1). The Dark Lords and the Sith are defeated, then are destroyed or vanish (presumedly vasnish, as more followers surface in years to come). C. 5,000 BBY The Golden Age of the Sith. Sith magic reaches its greatest height. C. 4,400 BBY Freedon Nadd arrives on Onderon and begins his dark-side rule. His Sith influence will hold Onderon under Sith power and rule for the next four hundred years. C. 4,000 BBY Ulic Qel-Droma, Cay Qel-Droma and Tott Doneeta become Jedi under Master Arca. Arca sends them to Onderon to serve as protectors. They are attacked upon arriving at Iziz by the renegade beast-riders. Princess Galia is kidnapped soon after. Queen Amanoa sends the three Jedi out after the riders. Ulic, Cay, and Tott discover from the beast riders that the people of Iziz are under Dark Side influence. Iziz is attacked and Master Arca arrives and turns the tide of battle. Queen Amanoa is confronted in Freedon Nadd's tomb which brings about the death of Amanoa. Galia and Oron Kira, leader of the beast riders, are married. Andur Sunrider takes his wife Nomi and their daughter Vima to visit Master Thon. On a stop over Andur is killed by criminals. Andur's spirit tells Nomi to continue on to Master Thon and to take up the Jedi training meant for him. Nomi Sunrider and Vima find Master Thon and Oss Wilum on Ambria. Bogga the Hutt and his gang follow Nomi and demand the Adegan crystals she is carrying. Thon defeats Bogga's gang and makes Nomi his apprentice. Nomi discovers that Ambria is a Dark-Side planet and that Thon lives there so he may keep the Dark-Side at bay. Bogga attacks again, and Thon forces Nomi to overcome her reluctance to use a lightsaber. Satal and Aleema begin their Dark Side experiments. They and other young aristocrats in the Empress Teta system form a secret group called the Krath. Satal and Aleema travel to Coruscant and steal an ancient book of Sith magic. The Freedon Nadd uprising begins on Onderon. King Ommin strikes from the catacombs beneath Iziz, Tott Doneeta is injured in the first wave of the attack. Doneeta travels to Ambria and asks for Master Thon's help on Onderon. Doneeta returns to Onderon with Oss while Thon goes to the Republic to ask for assistance. Master Arca is captured and brought to King Ommin. It is discovered that Ommin is using forbidden Sith lore to re-take Onderon. Freedon Nadd appears in spirit form to assist Ommin. Satal and Aleema find Ommin and learn more about Sith magic. The joint Republic/Jedi force overcomes the uprising. Ommin is killed and Nadd's spirit retreats. Arca places the remains of Nadd, Ommin, and Queen Amanoa into a tomb on the fourth moon of Onderon. C. 4,000 BBY + 1 Exar Kun, an apprentice of Master Vodo-Siosk Baas, begins to study the Dark Side. Satal and Aleema stage a coup in the Empress Teta system and murder their parents. Subsequently the system and it's rich carbonite production falls to the Krath very quickly. Master Arca gathers great Jedi from across the galaxy to join him on Onderon. He is given the task of putting down the Sith-inspired rebellion in the Empress Teta system. Arca also orders all of the Sith artifacts that had been in possession of King Ommin be transported to Ossus. Exar Kun rebels against Baas and leaves Dantooine. He comes to Onderon under false pretense and demands to see the Sith artifacts. Arca turns him down, but Kun is led to the tomb of Freedon Nadd by two Naddist worshippers. A joint Republic/Jedi fleet under Ulic Qel-Droma is defeated at Empress Teta. The fleet retreats and the Jedi begin to gather to discuss the situation. The spirit of Freedon Nadd confronts Kun and gives him Sith scrolls that lead Kun to Korriban, the last world the Sith held. At the Jedi gathering on Mount Meru on Deneba, Ulic announces his plan to infiltrate the Krath. He is met with disapproval, but after the Krath attack the summit and kill Master Arca he is determined to carry out his plan. Kun enters the Sith temple on Korriban and is mortally injured by falling debris. Nadd tempts him with the power to save himself only if Kun turns to the Dark Side. Kun relents, is healed, and begins his journey on the Dark Side. Kun ventures into the temple and learns about Naga Sadow. He travels to Yavin IV to discover what happened to Sadow and is captured by the Sith-degenerate Massassi. On Ossus Ulic prepares himself to go to Empress Teta but Nomi begs him to stay. Kun is offered to the Sith demon in the great temple on Yavin IV but kills the monster and the Massassi honor him as a God thereafter. Ulic arrives at Empress Teta and saves the lives of Satal and Aleema during an assassination attempt. Kun confronts Nadd's spirit and Nadd warns Satal and Aleema before he is obliterated. Ulic is considered an ally by Aleema but a potential menace by Satal. While he is being held prisoner Ulic is given a Sith poison by Satal. Kun orders the Massassi to build great temples so that he can tap into the energies of the Sith. Kun discovers Sadow's starship beneath the great temple and begins experimenting with it's stored knowledge of Sith alchemy. Nomi tries to rescue Ulic, but she fails when Ulic, under the influence of the Sith poison, strikes in anger and kills Satal. Ulic is now on the path to the Dark Side. Kun readies Sadow's ship to leave Yavin IV to find the other Sith followers. Kun goes to Empress Teta as the Jedi task force attacks the Krath. Ulic and Aleema become lovers. Kun arrives at Empress Teta and discovers that Ulic Qel-Droma has become empowered with Sith powers. The Jedi task force arrives and attacks the city. Kun confronts Ulic and they duel. The Jedi are forced to retreat. The spirit of the ancient Lord of the Sith appears and declares Kun to be the true Sith Lord, bestowing power to Ulic as well. Ulic Qel-Droma and Exar Kun forge an alliance. Their combined power is great but, as with all things, it eventually comes to an end. Just After The Sith War Following the terrible events of the Sith War, the first known true galactic war, the Republic entered into a Golden Age. The Jedi renewed their strength and continued on in their role of guardians. The Republic continued to gain new members as more systems were discovered and explored.
