My Own Unknown

My Own Unknown

By Robert Gilbert, Copyright 2002

======================================

I never really sleep

I like to dream instead

To water the seeds of inspiration

Planted in my head

But when the daylights comes

I never can remember

As if my dreams were burned

Leaving me with fading embers

What becomes of dreams that die?

Forgotten forever in my mind

The chaos has gone awry

With these visions from inside

Will I ever be able to find

My own unknown

To see just where you're going

Is to see just where you've been

Sadly falling short of knowing

Of your dreams again

The darkness of the night

Has blinded me to what I'm missing

I'm just tired of the fog

That always left me guessing

What becomes of dreams that die?

Forgotten forever in my mind

The chaos has gone awry

With these visions from inside

Will I ever be able to find

My own unknown

When your drinking dreams

Nothings what it seems

My confusion

And disillusion

My mind will always roam

For my own unknown
