Whee. Maps part. -------- Megacity Isis, the map of it. ================================================================================ Isis is huge, huge enough to not be called Isis all over. It's been divided into a grid system, as far as addresses are concerned, in a horizontalmile x verticalmile x verticalstory format, starting from the southeast corner. But everyone who lives there ignores that, and instead goes by the Goddess Statue Isis, addressing locations by its position relative to it, how far North/East/South/West it is from the Statue. Each 20 mile x 20 mile section has it's own name, as well. The residents of each area all have their own stories and tales to tell, unique to each. Small cultural differences have popped up in each area, people who live there identifying with the locale. 01 02 03 04 05 06 07 08 09 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 01 - Machina. The primary air traffic control is here. The actual airport is outside of Isis proper, so that sufficient runway length can be had, just to the north. 02 - Redgallons. The food and waste processing is located here, providing Isis with the majority of the raw materials for consumables. 03 - Ferr. The name given to this area comes from a gang that mispelled 'Fear', spraying it everywhere. They did eventually learn to spell, but it stuck, outliving even the gang. While that gang is gone, several large gangs claim territory to Ferr. And, predictably, the whole area is a giant gang war site. The military has tried to squash them repeatedly, but failed, more groups arising from the ashes of the old each time. 04 - Ikkillicus. The single largest building in Isis, the Terracorp international headquarters, is here. It reaches 333 stories high, taller than Isis by 40 stories. The whole area is heavily influenced by Terracorp, it's products and advertisements everywhere. 05 - Yvonne 06 - Tertius. This area is sunken in, the majority of it, and the edges of surrounding areas are also sunken, the area built over a deep valley. 07 - Brekka 08 - Geyser. The first incident with the plasma conduits was here, when the shielding proved insufficient, and all thourought the area, geysers of raw plasma shot into the air. 09 - Luminos. The Plasma conduits run especially thick here, providing an eternal glow. 10 - Berva Nine. The Mech population is higher, here. The atmosphere in this particular area is worse, and most humans prefer to stay in other areas where the air is better. A lot of Isis' heavy industries vent their wastes down to the first 20 stories, which is a giant waste treatment plant. 11 - Daelanta. Intense racism abounds here, anyone but a 'True Human' frowned upon. Or worse. Stories have been heard about those who have overstayed their welcome, none good. Numan and Mech and Numech alike are shunned. 12 - Union Town. During the contruction of Isis, a camp was built here for the year-round workers. It later became the impromptu head of operations, and it still serves in that tradition today. 13 - Temple/Nexus. The center of the city, the Goddess Statue Isis resides here. Proximity to her, though, people have sworn, brings ill fortune, to Human and Mech alike. Called Temple by the religous factions, who haved succumbed to the myth of the Goddess Statue, and Nexus by everyone else. 14 - Gouva 15 - Meridian 16 - Eclipse. This area is dark save for the glow of the plasma conduits, 10 months out of 12, due to overshadowing skyscrapers and megabuildings blocking the sun, the buildings here not reaching more than 50 stories. (Which is really low. Most areas reach above 200.) 17 - Jalst 18 - New Hope. Once, when Isis was younger, plans were made to construct a space shuttle launch facility here. While the resources and materials were not a problem, a stream of vicious terrorist attack crippled the plan. It was eventually called off. The various command complexes are still intact, and they serve as a secondary air traffic control. 19 - Dues Devorioge. The Isis military base is located here. 20 - Jyro 21 - Jericho 22 - The Theatre 23 - Maje' Torro. The 'party locale.' Every dancer, singer, and wannabe idol makes their start here. The area abounds with professional and amatuer entertainers, as well as those of a shadier element for those caught unprepared. Many a hope has been made or broke here, and one can make a living offering bodyguard services easily. 24 - Junifer 25 - Zues.
