* When we last left off, everybody zonked out at some hour or another. * Now members of the Elite! Mercanary! Strike! Force!, they got a mission! * It's morning now, the following day, but those of you who are light sleepers could hear light padding sounds, clicking and ticking sounds, and whatnot, all throughout the night. [Start] * Smith , after carefully checking and cleaning all her equipment, packs it back up and goes to get some breakfast, case in tow. * Guy grunts at Smith, already eating. * Smith nods, sets the case down with a "*THUD*", and gets herself some food. Where the otha` *snarf chew chew crunch* at? * Smith shrugs. * Smith looks at the food. That way we can *chew chew rip* get a plan 'o action * swallow* together. . o O () * Smith adds some more food and a glass of orange juice. * Smith eats. * Godhand stumbles down the steps, eyes unfocused I'm all for just going in *bite rip snarl* and bustin' the place up myself. *bite swallow* Go in, kill everything that moves, set charges, scrape the computers dry, leave, blow the place up? * Guy pauses his devouring for a moment to look at Smith. ... Yes? Ya'know, I'm liking ya more an' more. * Godhand sits down at the table heavily, resting her large cyborg arm on the table * Smith stares blankly for a moment before going "... Thank you." * Cliona stumbles into the room. She's dressd in a wringkled white shirt, and white boxers. Her hair is rather disheveled and she looks a bit irritated... =.= "Ergh.." I had a feeling she might've been drunk... * Smith is wearing a clean, neat suit, with her sunglasses hanging from the breast pocket. * Cliona has the whole typical Anime Bad morning look about her.. Like Ryoko with a hangover. :D * Smith looks at Cliona. "I trust that your hangover shall not impair your performance on the mission?" * Guy is wearing his heavy looking torso armor, still. It's the same shade of black as his hair. None of his weapons are with him, though. Coffee first. Talk later. =.= * Cliona stumbles over to the nearest coffee pot, pours a mug and downs the hot stuff without even flinching. Let the gal wake up, hear? A good merc can shoot straight blind and drunk, yah? * Smith shrugs. SHe's hardly straight. * Smith stares blankly at Godhand while she continues eating. * Godhand pulls a few plates towards herself and the starts gobbling down * Of note, is that the breakfast selection is entirely new, you can't spot a trace of the extravagant feast before anywhere. * Cliona sips another cup of coffee, starting to look decidedly more pleasant... Godhand's right, y'know. :D * Smith just keeps looking blank. * Cliona piles some food onto her plate and starts scarfing it down. * Godhand breaks a few spoons on accident with her metal hand, then resorts to her clumsy left hand So, when we gonna get this show on the road? I'm reddy 'n roaring t'go anytime! * Cliona pulls out her copy of the maps into the building. They're rather professionally marked up. "I did some checking. I think I got the general times of their patrols right." Her map has several possible entry and exit points marked.. times teh guards will be going by all that jazz. * Smith hms. "Should I change into my armor here, or near the site?" Heh. Any of you familiar with Ferr? Not really. * Godhand shakes her head Not particularly. Heh. Well, we should be okay with me along. * Smith finishes. "Do you think travelling in armor would be too conspicous, or should I change now? I'm from there, ya know. The place is a giant gang war. I dunt think anyone'll go after ya if they think ya'r packing. ... I shall change here then. Excuse me. * Guy scratches his head. * Smith picks up Pina-chan's case and heads out, presumeably to do just that. I ferget who's what now, I've been outta touch. * Godhand seems to not be paying attention. Since finishing her food, she's been twiddling her thumbs The Red Skellies are in charge I think... no, they got wiped out two months ago... The New Age Punks? I dunno. * Smith shortly wanders back, wearing a set of full-body black combat armor, complete with helmet. * Guy whistles. Damn I like ya! * Smith flexes her hands, adjusts her gloves a bit, flexes again, and appears satisfied. * Smith stares at Guy a bit. "... Okay." Ah think it'd be a good 'dea to plan what were gonna do before we get there, though. Plannin' n stuff is kinda important for teams, ya? I've already determind the optimal locations to place explosives to destroy the factory. And killing anything outside, then going in and killing everything room-by-room should not prove too difficult. * Cliona sighs and smacks her forehead. Goddess you people are idiots. Generally the idea with this kinda job is to *avoid* heavy casualties. * Smith stares blankly at Cliona. Well, as ah understand it, anyone there is someone who shouldn't be there but us, yah? Unless one of you hasn't mentioned that you're incompetent, I do not see how we should be taking casulaties. * Cliona rolls her eyes. "Once we get in, we should pull a fire alarm or something. At least give anyone who shouldn't be in there some fair warning. You forget we have to find out WHY they're there. So we steal all their comptuer files and such. * Guy grins. That too.. *gestures in Godhand's direction* ... Er. Does anybody here have skills in hacking? * Cliona raises her hand... I dun imagine we'll be meeting much fleshies down there. The air's pretty bad down there. Ah, good, we won't have to take the physical data storage then. Heh... I have expierience.. but I don't think I'll be able to hack the systems there.. My method of hacking are a bit... unique... ... Well, I assume somebody knows enough about electronics to safely extract the storage media at least? Can't do it without the right equipment. * Godhand shakes her head * Smith looks at Guy. * Guy grins. I'm good at splattering mech brains. ... Actually, we problaby want to avoid that. Ga-huh? Whaddaya mean? Since we might be able to recover data from them as well. "Splattering" most of the rest of the mech should be fine. Well, ah guess that'd havta do. Godhand, howwabout yah? Transporting all the assorted data-storage media might prove a problem, but we can probably produce some sort of cargo transport on site. What about me? Any 'deas? ( ... Hey, is it possible to extract information from the intact brain of a dead organic in this setting? ) ( possible, yeah. if they've already had some kinda of implant in the head. ) ( and you could even install it while they're alive and do that. >.> ) Sneak over, grab a mech, bring it back, extract the information safetly, then go back and collapse the factory... ( Anyway. Do mechs keep their brans in their heads? ) ( Their critcal thoguth circuits and such, for humanoids, generally yeah. ) ( 'Make god in thy own image.' ) ( Right, cool, we can blow their bodies into bits fine then. ) Hey, Smith. Mahnd if ah get a look at where ya wanna put the bombs at? * Smith pulls out the relavent plans and hands them to Guy. ( I got an "Excellent Success", IIRC, so there's not really much he can do besides look impressed, I belive. ) * Guy skims them, tracing various paths and stuff, then nods, satisfied, and hands them back. * Smith tucks them back in the case. I didn't understand it all, but looks pretty good. * Guy grins. ( I'm sorry, "Major" success. ) * Smith nods. * Guy sits up. Well, ah think I'm gonna go on ahead and clear the way, ya? I know the area and all. I'll try and talk to some buddy's down there so none of the gangs mess with us, ya? Very well. I'll meet ya guys there! * Guy heads on out * Godhand yawns and stretches Although unless the gangs have milspec equipment or something, they shouldn't present much problem if they do become hostile. So, do we want to go in and kill everything that moves and bring all data-storage media back for anaylisis, or do we want to try and kidnap an intact one... somehow? ( As I neglected to get EMP rounds, I hope somebody has some kind of clever plan for that last one if we go for it. ) * Cliona shrugs from where she's leaning in the dooway, now dressed in her usual attire. "I dun care." (Sure I do! Go in, rip off their arms and legs, then bring em' back...) * Smith turns to Godhand. "Did you have more to your plan, or some peice of specific equipment for your "kidnap one" plan? ( ... While being stealthy. ) (...stealthily rip off their arms and elgs, then bring em' back...) Yeah. This. * Godhand flexes her hand * Smith looks at it. ( Whee. Lemme know when you go off to the place. ) ( rather, when your ready. ^_^; ) * Smith looks over to where the damage on the wall was last night. * The wall still has the drawing on it. * There's a little note added, 'Keep up the good work!' written in marker, too. * Smith looks from the wall-drawing to Godhand's hand. * Smith looks at Godhand's face. * Smith looks at Godhand's hand. * Smith looks at Godhand's face. ... Stealthily. * Godhand folds her arms and looks away * Smith shrugs. "Very well, if we can successfully extract one target without notifying the others, let's do that. If we do notify the others, we'll problaby need to kill a large portion of them to cover our escape anyway, so we might as well go and kill all of them. * Smith stands up and picks up her case. "Shall we go?" * Cliona nods. "Guess so. If you all think you've got a plan ready. We have a plan A, in extracting one target, and a plan B, killing everything that moves, if plan A fails. * Cliona rolls her eyes. "Oh boy. Great plan you've got there." Do you have a better one? Not in detail. No. But basically, *sneak* in, steal the disks we need, pull a fire alarm and then blow the place up. Our chances of getting useful data improve if we bring anything that can contain data back for our employers to sift through. I did not recive much training in stealth. It's not hard. First off remove that clunky armor. * Smith raises an eyebrow. My movements are not noticeably impaired in this armor, as long as it is properly put on. * Cliona sighs and shakes her head. "Whatever... Let's just go." * Smith nods and heads out. * Godhand follows boredly * The trip goes okay, into Ferr with no problem. Ferr itself looks run down, there's an occasional fire, and muted explosions and fighting can be heard in the background. * At about the 15th story down, however, the air begins to thicken and darken, and when you reach the bottom, it's really thick, like fog, and not at all pleasant to breath. * Guy wasn't kidding when he said the air was bad down there. * Smith draws her pistol and stays alert. There already? * Godhand stretches * Smith activates her cats-eye contacts then! Nearby, at any rate. * Cliona leaves her own weapons holstered and blinks a couple times as her contacts kick in * The building in question is nearby, and appears to be a run down concrete building. From the apperance, it would appear that noone has been there in ages. * There's a faded sign above the door, faded beyond recognition, all you can make out of that are the letters K t u. * Guy is leaning against the wall, boredly. * Smith looks around for Guy. So where're we getting in? * Guy waves Waiting for one to come out would be a better plan, if we're going to try extracting one on its own. There's noone in dere. ... Eh? Any traps? There aint no sound, no motion, no nuthing. And one helluva big trap. ... What manner of trap? * Guy grins. You wouldn't beleive me if ah toldja. ... Try us. * Guy grins, shaking his head. Can you safely _show_ us in that case? Nah. I wanna see the looks on yous guys face when yas see it. ( ... It's a giant sphere clearly labled "BOMB", isn't it. ) It's a pretty big trap. Not to hard to avoid. ... Well, I think we can rule out our employers setting us up. They problaby would've baited the trap somehow. Yeah yeah...but if it's not there, why even bother? * Guy shrugs, and goes inside. * Smith follows Guy. * Guy walks along the hallways. Whee. * The interior is quite dim and dusty, but the AC does seem to improve the air quality. * It seems like noones been there in ages from the inside as well. (Why's the AC on then?) ( automatic. like the lights. ) * Cliona looks around slowly... * Guy stops at the entrance to the storage room, leaning against the wall next to the sign that says 'WARNING' in big glowing neon letters. ( is there a window in the door? ) * Cliona blinks a few times at the sign. "Oh just genius." * Inside the room you seem lots and lots and lots of shining red beams, and more than enough to not get into the room without triggering them. * Smith looks. * All the shining red beams are attached to an explosive of some sort or another. ( Yee! It _is_ something I can disarm with Demolitions! ) * Smith looks around for anything _besides_ explosives and lasers in the room. * And, the kicker. A fully operational nuclear warhead hanging from the ceiling. A fair amount of explosives are attached to it, as well. The whle thing seems to be a giant web, that if any of them are tripped, they all go off. ... What the _FUCK_? ...overkill... * There's also a big service elevator in the middle of the room. Also with lots of shining red triplasers blocking access to it, as well. ... Where's the powersupply for this place...? Nukes don't go off if they're damaged, though, they're carefully designed _not_ to do that. ( The middle of the storage room, yes? ) ( Yep. ) ... Ah think it's armed. But I'm not sure. * Smith cracks open Pina-chan's case, fishes out a cellphone, and calls the mansion. * Smith sets it to speakerphone mode and sets it down on top of the case. * It rings for a bit, then someone finally picks up. It's Cait. Hiii! How's it going? Everything going good so far? Your intelligence is shit. We are here. THere's nothing else here, with a few noteable exceptions. What? Did you make in underground yet? There appears to have been no substantial recent activity, aside from whoever installed these exceptions. And there's a motherfucking THERMONUCLEAR DEVICE in the next room. Wha....? Oh, great. The room is fucking FULL of explosives and laser tripwires, with a huge fucking THERMONUCLEAR WARHEAD hanging from the ceiling. The only room that could fit that aboveground would be the storage room... the elevator leading to the underground facilities is in there, too. Is that where you're at? Yes. See, I am slightly concerned, because I am standing not 10 meters away from what appears to be a fucntional THERMONUCLEAR WARHEAD. Great.... Dammit! They must have known we were coming! Took too long. Well, can you bypass it? ( Okay, what's the skill mod for trying to disarm the room full of stuff, assuming I'm careful and take my time? ) * Smith eyes the laser grid carefully. ( +2 for the initial layer, then a -1. ) ( 10 or less. Yeah, that's decent odds. ) ... Yeah, I should be able to. Wai Smith! But in case I do not, I want you to go look up the minimum safe distance on this thing. * Smith picks up the cellphone and uses it to transmit a picture of the warhead to Cait. * You hear funny choking sounds over the phone, as the picture is transmitted. Well, if that's operational, I'd say 20 miles. I think I'm gonna have a hairball. Gee. Nice. * Smith nods at Clinoa, Cait, and Guy. "You can leave and call me when you hit safe distance, or you can say here and go up with me if it blows." (stay.) * Cliona shrugs. "If you manage to disarm it, you'll need backup. I'm staying." * Guy grins. Lets see whatcha got, babe. * Godhand digs a toe into the ground, not saying anything and not moving * Smith shrugs and opens up the case, removing her bomb-disarming gear before carefully peering in the door to make sure opening it won't fuck things up. * It's fine to open the door, but not more than a centimeter past are shiny triplasers. * Smith opens the door, then lies down and gets to work on the lowest ones. * Dicesuke throws the bones for Smith (2d6-2) and gets 4. ( I succesfullyt disarm the inital stuff! ) * Smith slowly and skillfully works her way through the inital annoying web, then moves on to the rest of the crap. * Dicesuke throws the bones for Smith (2d6-5) and gets 2. * The first layer was the most complex as far as how intertwined they were, and it's a lot easier now. * Smith easily disarms that. ( Did that include the nuke? ( Nope! ^_^ ) * Smith eyes the nuke. ( Ya have to reach it to disarm it. =p ) ( How high is it? ) ( the ceiling is 'bout 40 feet high, and the lowest point on the nuke is 'bout 15 feet from the ground. ) ... How did they GET that thing in here anyway? Anybody seen a ladder around? I do _not_ like leaving that thing possibly armed and hanging up there. * Guy shrugs. * Godhand shakes her head Hell if ah know. I'm just glad it din't blow up. * Guy claps Godhand on the back. Speechless, eh? * Smith eyes it some more. "... Ugh." Thought fer sure we was all gonna die. * Smith goes and stands on the elevator. "Coming?" * Guy grins, and makes for the elevator. * Godhand shakes her head again at Guy, slightly irritated, and steps onto the 'vator * Cliona follows after the groups, grumbling to herself. * Smith looks at Guy. "Any idea what's below?" * Guy shrugs. * Smith nods and gets Pina-chan out of her case before strapping said case to her back. Din't get that far. Didn't wanna tempt fate without a group to see. Right. * Smith pokes the "Down" button. * The elevator starts up, engages, then starts descending. * There's some red lights going 'Whir whir' around the elevator, and a thick metal panel closes over the passageway once you've descended about ten feet. * And then it's dark. ( Catseyes help? ) ( Yeah. But there's still nothing to see but wall. ) * The elevators moving awfully slow, and it takes a good 15 minutes for you to get to the bottom. * Smith checks her maps to see which side the exit is at and covers it. * The only exits from underground are through the supply lines, or back the way you came. There's also a maintenance stair thingie that runs alongside the elevator shaft, that gets out up by the elevator, too. ( The _elevator_ exit. ) * With a long agonizing hydraulic 'hiss', the elevator finally comes to a stop. Thick lead doors slide open into a well lit hallway. * Smith aims at anything mobile-looking, ready to shoot it. Now where's that stupid terminal.. * You can hear mechanical factory sounds all around, and the immediate vicinity seems to be clear. * Cliona *still* hasn't drawn her guns... * There's also a serial number along the hallway, identifying the factory name and number, Kentetsu Mechcorp Factory JX5527 * The hallway leads to a T junction, and there's a path off to the left. * Smith heads down to jsut short of the T-Junction and listens. ( awareness roll, -2. ) * Dicesuke throws the bones for Smith (2d6-2) and gets 10, a CRITICAL FAILURE!!! "You always hurt the ones you love. I love you very much." ( Son of a fuck. ) ( O.o ) (I believe the correct phrase is: "Oh Smegging hell." ( DICK PENIS. ) ( Hee. ) * You don't hear anything other than the background noise. * Smith peeks around the corner, then the other way, then ducks back. ( Hmm. Init. ) * Dicesuke throws the bones for Smith (d6+8) and gets 10. * Dicesuke throws the bones for Jex (d6+5) and gets 7. * There's a nice mean looking armed trio of numechs waiting for you as you duck you're head around the corner. But they're too slow, and their shots go off after you're head ducks back. Showtime, Pina-chan. * Dicesuke throws the bones for Smith (d6+10) and gets 12. * Dicesuke throws the bones for Jex (d6+5) and gets 11. * Smith steps around the corner and fires at one's torso. * Dicesuke throws the bones for Smith (2d6-4) and gets 6. ( Hit! ) * Dicesuke throws the bones for Jex (2d6-2) and gets 9. ( failed. ) * Smith steps back. We've got company. * The numech makes a sick powerloss sound, and falls over. * The other two strafe by, accelerated by boosters, and take potshots at Smith! * Dicesuke throws the bones for Jex (2d6-3) and gets 8. * Dicesuke throws the bones for Jex (2d6-3) and gets -1, a CRITICAL SUCCESS!!! "I wish I got to hand out more of these, really." ( Crud. ) ( ....Dicey don't like ya. ) * Smith drops to one knee and clutches at her wound. "FUCK!" * The strafe continues, and they are now in cover at the other side of the junction. ( Clio, GH? ) ( Guy, even? ) ( well, it'll take a round to get in melee. And good luck with ranged shots with them strafing like that. ) * Godhand moves towards the strafing numechs, drawing her cyborg arm back to prepare * Guy moves up, too, activating the empty sword holster, which flares to life in a brilliant display of contained plasma. ( reinit! ) ( SMith, GH/Guy, Numechs, and Clio's somewhere in there. ) * Smith slides out into the hall and shoots one of those fucking numechs. * Dicesuke throws the bones for Smith (2d6-4) and gets 2. * Dicesuke throws the bones for Jex (2d6-2) and gets 9. * Smith ducks back into the hall and hides behind the case from any possible incoming fire. * The shot numech crumples, oils openly pouring out of the nice big hole. ( Whee. Clio, go. ) * Cliona draws her guns and peeks around the corner.. then ducks around it, takes aim and fires two shots. * Dicesuke throws the bones for Cliona (2 2d6-2) and gets 5 7. * Dicesuke throws the bones for Jex (2 2d6-2) and gets 3 7. * The numech evades the first one, but not the second. There's a nice hot hissing metal sound where the laser struck. * Godhand! * Godhand reaches out for the numech, now in range, and attempts a chop at the mech's gun arm (modifier?) * Dicesuke throws the bones for Godhand (2d6-3) and gets 3. * Dicesuke throws the bones for Jex (2d6-1) and gets 1, a CRITICAL SUCCESS!!! "My momma always said, you gotta take the good with the bad. Here's some good." * And the chop is easily avoided. * Guy moves in with his giant glowing energy sword, striking with a vicious lateral swipe * Dicesuke throws the bones for Guy (2d6-3) and gets 9, a CRITICAL FAILURE!!! "You always hurt the ones you love. I love you very much." ( DICK PENIS DICK PENIS DICK PENIS ) * ....and gets it stuck in the wall. * The numech wastes no time in running away, the boosters in the back opening fully ( Reinit! ) * Clio, Smith, Numech, Guy, GH. * Cliona growls when the numech makes a break for it and fires two more shots... * Dicesuke throws the bones for Cliona (2 2d6-2) and gets 4 8. * Dicesuke throws the bones for Jex (2d6-4) and gets 5. * Numech narrowly avoids the blast! * Smith heads out into the cooridor and shoots that last numech in the back. * Dicesuke throws the bones for Smith (2d6-4) and gets 6. * Dicesuke throws the bones for Jex (2d6-2) and gets 6. * The last numech gets nailed, it's boosters still active. Instead of slumping over like the others, it explodes! * Smith curses a bunch and applies her nanopatches to her wound. * Guy retrieves his glowy energy blade from the wall, twitching a little. You 'kay? * Smith heads over and gives the numcech that tagged her a kick. "Lucky son of a fuck. I'm better than I was when I was shot, at any rate. * Guy blinks, frowning at Smith for a second. Uh... right. Whatever werks fer ya. * Smith dredges up her map of hte place out of Pina-chan's case to see which way to go. * The map says to go whichever way it is! The final hallway has a lot of little offices, and it leads into the main big room where all the production is at! According to the map. * Godhand grunts, the mechs kinda useless now * Smith puts it away and heads down the hall in the appropriate direction. * Guy shrugs, and takes the rear. [end]
