And much talking was had. * Currently, the Group, minus Alex and Tze, is at the Lighthouse. * Start! (How much time has passed?) (How long since CArter left the room and more importantly, has he gotten back yet?) ( As much as you spent sleeping. And yeah, Carter's back. ) (so it's 'morning' so to speak) * Carter is out cold in whatever spot was devoid of a sleeper when he came stumbling in. * Elonith is snoozing away in one of the smaller beds, hugging his laptop. Strange, none of you must've noticed it before, but when he sleeps he reverts back to his natural state. (Guess Alex and Tzezhin must have snuck out during the middle of the sleep cycle - snicker ]=) ) (speaking of the room and beds - what sort of room and beds do we currently have use of?) * There's a paper note lying on Elo's laptop: "Tze's still out in town, gonna find Tobias. -Alex" ( Theres a single big bed, several desks and chairs, and a big table. They're all quite nice looking and of good quality, as is the carpet. There's a two of couches, too. ) * KaeollaRae zipped a couch for sleeping. ( Drat. I have a 4 of chairs and a seven of ottomons. No matches for that two of couches. ) * Elonith rolls over onto the floor, snapping awake when he hits the ground. "I didn't do it!" * KaeollaRae opens one eye and looks his direction with a coy little smile and teases "Sneaky little fellow. You being naughty with a poor sleeping girl?" * Elonith looks around the room through his red eyes and messy metallic hair. "You're not even my age. Why would I be naughty with you?" * KaeollaRae giggles softly and closes her eye back. * Elonith rubs his eyes. "Owww... Do they have to make the floors so hard?" * Carter turns a bit, not moving much. z.z * KaeollaRae says while her eyes remain closed "Not really - but them most people would have a hard time walking over it and keeping their balance if it was too bouncy." * KaeollaRae says "Bouncy." and giggles. * Elonith notices the note. "Tze's out at town... And Alex is finding Tobias. What do they want me to do, babysit?" * Tzezhin walks in unceremoniously, looking....like Tzezhin. * KaeollaRae says to Tzezhin while her eyes remain closed "Did you have fun?" she giggles softly. * Tzezhin shrugs. "A brisk walk in the morning is invigorating." * Carter rolls over again. zz * KaeollaRae responds "Oh you are a morning person like Alex was mentioning a while ago." * Elonith yawns, then looks at Tzezhin. "Got any suggestions on what I should look like today?" Right now, his skin's solid black, as I haven't mentioned that earlier. And he's disturbingly skiny. * Tzezhin shrugs. "Morning comes when morning comes." ( Which means you always want an umbrella ready. >_> ) Not particularly. Is there a reason that you must constantly change form? Just that I don't want to stick out like a sore thumb... * Tzezhin shrugs. "Our group is fairly noticeable already, I should say. Although there are enough folk of odd appearance on this world in any case." * Alex shoves the door open rather hard. It bounces off the wall inwards with a slam, and back out. She shoves it again, and steps it, in between the second rebound. "Stupid annoying sugar junkie brat. GAH." * Carter mutters, without changing position, "Changing constantly makes you kind of obvious." * Tzezhin glances at Alex. "Has the door offended you?" * Carter jerks awake, on his feet faster than most can follow. "Oh. It's just Miss Alex." He does not seem to be stressed, having relaxed before he stopped standing. * Elonith yawns again. "Maybe, maybe not. There's just some people out there who would, ehem... Not like me if they knew who I was." * KaeollaRae is laying on the couch she was sleeping own, but with both eyes open and watching Alex's plight with some amount of amusement. * Alex looks up from grimacing at the floor. "Hey, that's a good idea." * She draws one gun, and unloads a clip into the door* "Stupid! Easily! Distracted! Catguy! AGH!" * Elonith rubs his head. "Not so loud. Some of us are still trying to wake up, you know." Hey! Julia's not going to like you destroying her door! Property damage will not help us relocate Tobias, Alex. * KaeollaRae says with a grin "My she certainly likes to get her gun off." Sorry. Just annoyed. And you don't have to worry about finding him... Why not? Getting him to come with us is the hard part. He's off chasing some other thing, dosen't wanna come along any more. Good ridance, I say. * KaeollaRae says "I wonder if you killed anyone sleeping in the room below?" Nah, if she did I woulda sensed a 'disturbance in the force'. No, not really. * Tzezhin half-shrugs. "He was not an unpleasant child." * Alex shrugs. "Probably just woke em up. Hell if I care, though. Good, Tzezhin. You're here." Everyone ready? For those of you that are STILL COMING, anyways. * KaeollaRae says cooing "Oooooh, sounds like something fun." Have any of you eaten yet? * Alex facepalms with one hand. "I guess that's a no..." * Elonith gets up and streaches. He packs his laptop away and assumes his normal guise, clothing changing with him. * KaeollaRae puts one finger up to her chin and says "Oh, now that you mention it, not for a while." ( He has a normal guise? ^^ ) * Carter's stomach growls quite loudly at the mention of 'eating'. Shall we go eat, then go? * KaeollaRae sits up and stretches "MMmm" and then stands up and says "That's a good idea." * Elonith nods and smiles. "Food can make everyone come together..." Actually, I ate before I left. * KaeollaRae's tail wiggles and she giggles with a coy expression on her face while looking towards Elonith. * KaeollaRae says "Must be some amazing food." * Carter studiously does not look at Kaeolla's "wiggling", and thus it can have absolutely nothing to do with the shade of pink his ears are turning. * Elonith looks strangely at Kaeolla. "And what are you thinking?" * KaeollaRae replys "That the food here must be very stimulating." * KaeollaRae continues "I so do like tasty food." * Alex sighs, and stares at the floor blankly. "Patience... good. Patience... good. Patience is a virtue... Grr." Is there a need for us to rush? * Carter 's stomach growls again. "Come on. Let's go." He walks hastilly out of the room as his face begins to join his ears in coloration. * KaeollaRae sashays out not far behind Carter. No... no... go eat. I've gotta get this down sometime. * Elonith shrugs. "Just relax. You can't rush into everything head-on later on in life." You sound like my sisters.... * Carter gets downstairs, and tries to get the attention of someone serving food. * Elonith continues leaving. "Someone needs to help guide you through life." * KaeollaRae stands near Carter and is probably getting attention from the current patrons from doing little more than just standing there. * 'Morning' rush. No sign of Julia. There's not a free table, either. Lots of chatter about the Festival, and Cephiro. * KaeollaRae says to Carter with her finger at her chin "My, it certainly is crowded, isn't it?" Yeah. *makes his way to the bar, trying not to push past anyone if he can avoid it* * KaeollaRae waits where she was standing and watches Carter press forward. * Elonith stays standing in place too. "Just get us some food already!" * One of the staff breaks away from the crowd, eyeing Carter. "I'm sorry... we're busy, there's no tables... Oh! I'm sorry... Did you want room service?" ...Uh... only if it's not too much trouble... * "Someone will be up shortly! Sorry!" *bow, reenter the crowd* ...oh, dear. *heads back over to Kae and Elo* Um, they said they'd send up room service. * Elonith nods. "Let's not keep them waiting, then." Heads upstairs. * Alex is staring out of one of the windows, drawing and holstering her guns over and over, fairly fast, occassionally switching hands, or tossing one up in the air and catching it. * KaeollaRae says with a smile to Carter "Well that's certainly better than having to eat in such a busy area." and turns around, sashaying her way back to the room, her tail swinging back and forth, and the couch she slept one previously. ( Alex is Kino!? ) * Carter looks at the ground all the way back to the room. * She turns around as people enter. "Done already? Thank god... Let's go!" They're sending up room service. Too crowded downstairs. .... oh. Grr. Okay, Alex. What's bugging you so much? Sorry. ^^; * Carter bows appologetically. Just thought we'd be out of here by now. Nothing's bugging me. Really. Your speech patterns say otherwise. * One of the staff knocks on the door. "Room service!" * KaeollaRae exclaims "Oh yummy time." Well I'm saying otherwise. Don't push it. * Carter answers the door. "Hello. Sorry to be a bother. Um..." He orders some stuff for himself, getting several of the things Julia had suggested before. After ordering all that, he asks, "What do the rest of you want?" Whatever, really. Already ate. * Carter goes and sit down to wait for everyone to finish ordering, and then for food to arrive. * KaeollaRae says "I'll have whatever's recommended. I don't very well know much about the food here yet." * The person nods, and exits. And comes back in ~10 minutes, with ordered stuff! Thanks! *digs in, forgetting his manners as he packs away more than his body looks like it can hold. Lina Inverse, eat your heart out* * Elonith blinks and eats. * KaeollaRae eats, but neither fast nor slow, at a rather average pace. * Carter finishes 3.6 minutes later. "Okay... I'm ready to go." * Tzezhin looks around to see if everyone else is finished, too. * Alex looks about ready to explode, tapping her feet impatiently. * Elonith finishes eating his small portion. "Yeah, let's go." * Elonith softly adds. "Before she blows her top." * KaeollaRae doesn't take much longer than the others and then goes to the restroom to wash up. * KaeollaRae returns shortly, refreshed and ready for excitement. * Elonith gathers his things (Read: Backpack). He checks his pistol's condition and is ready to head out. * Alex stomps on out, at a swift pace. * Elonith follows the angry lady. * Tzezhin follows nonchalantly. * KaeollaRae doesn't really seem to have any carry items, probably because they got blowed up when her space ship crashed. * KaeollaRae sashays along with the group. * Carter follows, looking sheepish. * Following Alex, you reach a different gate than you entered Lifa by. There's several Chocobos there, one for each of ye. * Elonith carefully mounts one of the large meals. "On the Cocoa-bops again..." * KaeollaRae says "We are going on a longer trip on those horsies? How adventerous." Um... if I may ask, what is Tobias distracted by, Miss Alex? *mounts a chocobo* * Tzezhin looks at them oddly, then shrugs and mounts up. * KaeollaRae gracefully positions herself atop the chocobo's saddle. ( Could be worse, Elo. Could be Cocoa Puffs. ) (True enough.) ( I refuse to ride a breakfast cereal. ) * Alex pointedly ignores Carter's question. And gets on her own chocobo, which reacts predictably to being approcahed by a really angry person. But she manages to get on, anyways. ( *introduces a new brand of breakfast cereal based on chocobos* ) ^^; Shadifar forest, ETA one hour. *she takes off, going slow enough to be followed* * Elonith eyes Alex and gets his chocobo to follow. "I don't think you answered his question." Duh. * KaeollaRae follows along. * Yay for chocobos! Nice and tame, and cute, too! (and they come in primary colors too!) * Carter lets the chocobo follow on its own, seeming lost in his own thoughts. {Bye, m'lady Julia. I shall see you again, I hope.} * Elonith shakes his head. * The trip starts out in sparsely grassed plains, but quickly takes the turn of a road less traveled. In fact, there's a total lack of a path. There's a slight detour to go around a swamp, and then you're at the edge of a cliff. * There's a drop of about 10 feet, and then there's a gentle slope leading down into the large valley below. It's a circular valley, and looks decidedly sculpted. At the bottom, there's a thick ring of forest about the center. * The forest dosen't look very nice. Even though the sun is out, you don't think much in the forest sees it. It's got a grey-ish look about it, too. And in the center, there's a half-finished giant pengiun. It's about a mile long, and various building around it are seen. * Elonith rubs his temples. "So, we have a half-finished statue of a giant arctic fowl in the middle of nowhere. This is just great..." * KaeollaRae exclaims "Tally hoe!" and smiles brightly as she encourages her chocobo forward and to hop down the mere ten feet drop and down the gentle slop. * Alex frowns, watching KaeRae charge ahead. "Something's not right with her... And they say I'm impatient." * KaeollaRae laughs as the chocobo works it's way down the gentle slope. Well? Do we go down there? This is the construction site, and Clay *points at the giant penguin* is there, overseeing it. ... The ship is a giant penguin? The frickin' ship is a giant penguin?! .... yes. * KaeollaRae calls back up the slope "Come on you fraidycats!" Then there's the whole matter of the forest around it. I haven't been there myself, but Ai said she went in there, and almost didn't make it through. Well, there's always going over...It would just be...difficult, logistically. So we should be a little bit careful going through it. *she grins a little* Who's Ai? * Elonith urges his Chocobo forward. "Let's get this over with, then." My other sister. *dismounts, and leads her chocobo over the edge* * KaeollaRae waits near the bottom of the slop (or edge of the forest, whichever is first) for the others, watching them. Um, Elonith? How much can you lift with your crystal? * Tzezhin blinks. ( And Jex? I hate you. >_< ) That bird does not look capable of flight. Me? Oh, about... Maybe a ton. Two if I try really hard. The real version of that bird can't fly. Enough to lift Miss Alex, Tzezhin, and Miss Rae? Oh. That explains it, I suppose. ... Yes. But it'll be pretty tough on me, and you wouldn't be able to move very fast. Why is levitation needed? Hmph. I dunno about you, but there's probably something worthy of shooting in there. * KaeollaRae waits patiently for the others to arrive at her location, watching them as she waits, her back to the forest and giant penguin ship. Miss Alex said the forest was dangerous. I was attempting to determine the feasability of just circumventing the problem by flying over it. Ah. Well, it does not seem very feasible at this point. But no matter. It is a forest. We shall pass through it. And if something gets in our way, we shall just have to dispose of it. I like the way you think. ( You know, the thought comes that Tzezhin and Sakura would probably be best friends. ^^ ) ... You have a warrior's mentality, Tzezhin. Don't let it kill you. * Tzezhin shrugs in reply and rides ahead to join Kaeolla. "Shall we?" * There's a sign in front of the forest. * Carter nods, looking nervous. But, he goes with the group, as alert as he can be. * 'Painfully Generic Evil Forest.' * It -did- say 'Abandon hope, all ye who enter' but that was crossed out. * ... everyone but KaeRae notices that there's an indented panel thats not quite obvious at first on the sign. * Elonith smirks. "Who's up for a little hacking?" * Carter examines the sign closely. ( Where is this panel? ) * KaeollaRae asks Carter "Is a sign really that interesting?" There is something odd about its construction. * Elonith puts his hand forward, the other one around his neck. He tries to pull the dented section off. *scan* I advise caution, Elonith. It could be a trigger. * KaeollaRae leans a bit forward to try to see what they mean. * There's an indented panel in it, on the front, but it's pretty inobvious. It looks like you could get it out, if you could but reach your fingers in it. * Elonith nods. He tries to pry it off *slowly*. * Carter pays _close_ attention as Elo works. There's a keypad behind it... * Bod roll, slieght of hand and lockpicking stuff applies. I can't access it. Not good enough to fake my nanites as interfacers. * Dicesuke throws the bones for Elonith (2d6) and gets 6. * KaeollaRae comments to Carter "Oh, so you have crawlies inside you. That's kind of creepy." * Carter responds absently. "I've had them since I was three. I can't imagine being without them...losing an arm would be easier." * The panel comes off. It now reads 'Painfully Ge - il Forest.' And there's a 12 digit keypad behind it. Interesting. Yeah, well... I'm just glad they didn't try putting something similar inside of me. Probably woulda killed me if they did... What's up there, anyways? I can't see. It's a closed circuit, connected to something way far away. No way to tell what the proper combination, or purpose, is. Though I could try to follow the wire and scan...that way I'd not trigger anything in the ground. I say we shoot it. Or stab it. Or burn it. And then waltz along and shoot anything big and mean that moves on our way. That is not a very prudent idea. And if that something big and mean is Lord Clay? ... good point. I could hack it, if it's a circut, you know. If this...circuit...will allow us to pass through safely, there is no reason not to investigate this possibility. Something's wierd, though. I don't think Clay would have enough of a sense of humor to design a penguin... "I got it working, but... Something's blocking the signal. We're probably gonna have to go in and fix it." Do we need to fix others' mistakes? Probably. Why? Interesting....... He doesn't look very defensive at the moment, though. Carter/Tree * The tree is moving, but not appoaching. ( Ewwwwwwww. ) It...it is not...has not worked that way before. * The tree shifts position, grabbing at the exploding innareds of grey-ish bark, and reeling them in under it's own power. When it's all over and done with, it's managed to keep most of them in. * KaeRae! * KaeollaRae holds her action until after Alex has had her's * Alex, predictably, pulls out one gun in a lightning quick draw, and shoots it. ( Alex _is_ Kino! ) * The Tree is shot. Looks pretty hurt, but is still ... moving. Somewhat. * KaeRae! * KaeollaRae doesn't do anything but watch (Total Defense) * Carter! * Carter rises an inch or so off the ground, his eyes unfocussed, and begins moving backwards. "This way." Behind him, another tree begins to turn grey-ish. Ah, Carter? There is another one behind you. And in any case, it is never wise to leave an active enemy behind. * And out of nowhere, masses of greytoned branches burst out of the ground underneath Elo and Tze. Def rolls, +1! Both the CV whores manage to dodge the grasping, clawing feeling branches. Which immideatly retract back into the ground, having missed. But can't avoid the Sword cleaving it in twain. ( FWAR HAR HA*coughcough* ) You know, whenever you two mess with your techhead stuff, something goes wrong. We coulda just fought our way through in the first place... * Tzezhin shrugs. "Either way, we fight. If they had found a way to bypass whatever system is in place, our passage might have been more convenient. There was no shame in that." ( Other tree stops advancing ) The. one. behind. is. mine. Eating. processing. power. though. to. maintain. what. blocks. I. can. * Elonith sees the other tree and activates his forcefield. He also pulls out his energy pistol and tries to blast the remaining tree. NO! * 'tack roll. +1 due to partial cover. * Dicesuke throws the bones for Elonith (2d6-1) and gets 9. (... Miss.) (Sheeze, Jex, those +1 penalties are really costing today) (Wait, was the tree between me and him?) (Err, was Carter between the tree and Elo?) * KaeollaRae says "Silly people." she urges her chocobo forward into the forest. ( Nope. ) (Oh, okay.) * KaeollaRae sits back in the saddle as her chocobo gets underway. * Elonith blinks as the shot goes awry. "What is it Carter?" I. control. that. one. Let's. get. moving. ... I'll. try. to. fool. camaras. ... Nice. * Elonith mounts up somewhat clumsily. "If you need, I can program a sub-routine to keep it under your control." Good work. * The chocobos dont wanna go in. Fancy that. * KaeollaRae says "Hey, what's wrong horsie?" * Tzezhin eyes the nervous chocobos. "Perhaps we should go on foot from here on, in any case." The forest unsettles them. I don't blame them, really. Steeds can be easily frightened, which will only distract us more. * KaeollaRae says "Hmmm. Well okay, but I hope the forest isn't too thick." * Tzezhin shrugs.
