~*How Lisa & David Met*~

Chapter 8
By Lisa ashley_mylove3@yahoo.com
Present Day: July 30, 2004
…As I dry off and apply lotion to my body, I can’t seem to erase the smile that is on my face when his smiling face passes through my mind. I put on my clothes and look into the mirror. **Uh-oh…I need to grab the rest of my jammies or David will have the wrong idea…** I think with a smile. Removing my towel, I squeeze the Frizz-Ez onto my hands and run them through my hair. Satisfied, I use my wide-tooth comb. I never know if I’m going to have a straight, wavy or curly hair day, so after I scrunch my hair I see my hair curl up. The shower has refreshed my energy. Though I still feel tired, I feel like I’ve received my second wind. Opening the door I run up the stairs before David gets a glimpse of me. “You can go in and take your shower now!” I call out to him. I grab my white eyelet jammie pants and long sleeve shirt that go with my boy-cut shorts, tank, and underwear. While I debate over whether or not to wear my Lambie slippers, I take out my J-Lo Glow perfume, spray a little on a cotton ball and lightly apply to my pulse points. I place it in my corset tank next to my heart so that with every beat it emits a puff of air between my skin and the cotton ball. Thus, a continual refresh of perfume. Deciding, I do slip them on. I look proudly at my creations. After my Grandpa moved to St. George, I went down for visit. Santa Clara held their annual Swiss Days at a local park near my cousin Shauna and her family lived. We went and walked around the booths of foods, arts and crafts, as well as, other amazing projects that were up for sale to those who attended. I came across a booth that had Beanie Babies and saw a very large Lamb. Since I already had a small lamb at home, I immediately bought the large one ‘cause it was absolutely adorable. A few years later I got the idea to make out of the stuffed lambs a pair of slippers. I searched for what seemed like forever, and bought 2 of them. Then I bought a pair of regular slippers and took them apart so that I could use the rubber soles for my Lambie slippers. Much time and effort went into lining the Lambies with flannel; sewing it all together. Since then, I’ve collected several lamb Beanie Babies. …Listening to David start his shower, decide to go down to the lower levels. Passing the bathroom, I hear the music he has playing. I have to laugh…It’s the English group Five, singing When The Lights Go Out. I feel myself blush big-time as I listen to the words! Baby, when the lights go out Every single word could not express The love and tenderness I'll show you what it's all about Babe, I swear you will succumb to me So, baby, come to me When the lights go out I can hear David singing along. I can’t listen to the rest even though I love his voice. The song is pretty…um…yeah…direct. I happen to be partial to Five’s It’s The Things You Do and Until The Time Is Through. I am quite surprised that he knows who Five is. That he knows the words. **Maybe he’s playing psychological warfare…making me nervous on purpose** I think, totally amused. I walk down to the Family Room. It’s warm and quite cozy. At first I’m worried. There’s a fireplace…in a Treehouse…not wise, but then I look more closely. It’s fake. Electric. I sit down and feel the warm air coming out of it. I scrunch my hair as it dries. Looking at my watch, I decide to call my niece, Kayla. Racing upstairs and I again pass by the bathroom, the thought moves through my mind about plastering myself up against the door. **Not!** Grabbing my phone I turn it on. The Khazad-Dum ringtone tells me I have messages. “Holy Cow! Forty-five messages!” I exclaim. **This certainly going to take forever.** I think. I begin to listen to them. Some are hang-ups while others are short and sweet. I dial up my brother’s number and Kayla answers. “Hey Kayla! I thought I’d call you before you went off to bed. I just had my shower and have a few moments to chat with ya.” I’m so happy to talk to my niece that I’m smiling ear to ear. “Lisa! OMHeck! How are you? How is Maui?” Kayla says enthusiastically. “I’m really great! I’m having a fantastic time here. How is everyone?” I ask. “Oh, that’s good. Were fine. Dad’s on the computer. Josh is staying over Jameson’s house and Alyssa’s at Matt’s. They both won today’s soccer games. I saw you on the TV last night. We were watching Entertainment Tonight and we saw you and the man you’re with, kissing. It was you wasn’t it? It looked like you and you said you were seeing a man named David. Well if it is, then that’s great! I was like ‘OMHeck!’” I laugh. “Haha! Kayla, I’m not sure what you saw. I know that some people have taken pictures of us. I wouldn’t worry about it though. If anyone asks you anything, don’t say anything about it. Besides, I haven’t seen a regular program on TV since I got here. I’ll have to tell you about my trip when I get home. How come you didn’t go and spend the night at one of your friend’s? Oh, tell the kids that they did a good job on the games for me. So…how are…**sniff** my babies?” I say starting to feel emotional. I always get homesick for my cats when I’m away, because I miss them so much. “Haha! I will. The cats are good. They miss ya, though. I fed them and made sure they got loves from you.” Kayla says knowing how much I miss them. “Good. Oh, I’m bringing home souvenirs for the family.” I mention. “Ooh! What did you get me? I won’t tell Josh or Alyssa!” Kayla excitedly inquires. “I’m not telling. You’ll just have to wait ‘til I get home.” I laugh as I shake my head. I hate keeping prezzie secrets. It always seems to be burning a hole right through me. Kinda like when you have extra money and it seems like it burns a hole in your pocket…that you want to spend it quickly. I didn’t hear the shower finish, so I’m surprised to hear David coming up the steps to the bedrooms. Smiling, he walks over and sits on the bed with me, while he listens to my conversation. He leans into my ear and whispers “Miss you” and I just want to melt. I softly giggle into the phone. “What’s so funny? Is someone with you?” Kayla prods. “Kayla, I need to get off now. I head back tomorrow and I’ll call you when I get home.” I hate having to hang up with her, but I don’t want to be rude to David. “Ah…do you? I wanted to talk some more.” Kayla whines into the phone. David taps my shoulder and I look over at him. “Is that your niece Kayla?” He whispers. I nod and he opens his hand for the phone. “Uh, Kayla? Someone wants to say hello to you.” Taking the phone, David starts to talk with Kayla. “Hello Kayla? This is David. How are doing?” He says. I have the phone volume loud enough that I can hear Kayla clearly. She giggles and talks with him. “Hahaha! I’m fine and you?” David smiles and replies “I’m good, I’m good. Lisa has told me so much about you. She said you love to use your snowboard and that you’re a good student.” “Haha! Yeah, I love to snowboard. We have a trampoline and I practice tricks with my brother. I can do my back flips really well and aerials too. My back handsprings are awesome. Josh is good too. Next winter we should be able to do cool jumps with our tramp' practice. You know, I love your accent. Lisa does it all the time and sounds very much like you, but she seems to do the English more.” Kayla says to David. He starts to laugh again. “Thank you, Kayla” She continues, “You’re welcome. …Hey, is this really David Wenham? The one who plays Faramir? The really cute guy who gets hurt…his Faramir gets hurt and his daddy almost kills him?” “Yes, I am the David Wenham who played Faramir in the Lord Of The Rings Trilogy. I’m here with your Aunt Lisa having a glorious time. I’m sure she’ll tell you all about it when she comes home. I probably should let you go. Quel kaima, Kayla. Aa’ lasser en lle coia orn n’ omenta gurtha.” “I’m not telling. You’ll just have to wait ‘til I get home.” I laugh as I shake my head. I hate keeping prezzie secrets. You didn’t speak Elvish in the movies.” David smiles and says, “Very good! Yes, that was Elvish. We all had to learn some and I loved doing it even I didn’t have to speak it in the movie. I just told you to ‘Sleep well’ and ‘May your ways be green and golden’.” Kayla giggles and says to him. “Oh…OK. Well, you too. It was nice talking with you. Um…David? Are your going to marry Lisa, ‘cause it would be great to have another uncle?” David’s face turns red as does mine and he begins to laugh. I cover my face in embarrassment as he puts his arm around me. “Well, Kayla, we shall see, won’t we? It’s been nice talking to you too. Here’s Lisa.” I take the phone from David and talk with Kayla again. “Kayla Marie! Ugh! Hahaha! OK, I’ll see you Tuesday. Tell everyone hi for me.” I hang up and feel that my face is still red. “That Kayla is a real sweetie!” David says while he chuckles. “Yeah, she is. She has such heart in her. We can talk about almost anything. Argh! I can’t believe she just said that!” I say to him while I roll my eyes. “Haha! Oh, she’s young. She probably wants you to be happy and have loads of children so that she can baby-sit. So are you up for dinner?” He says. “You bet!” I say as we get up from the bed and walk out of my room…hand in hand. ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Elvish “Mela en’ coiamin? Tampa. Amin…Amin…Amin…” “Love of my life? Stop. My…My…My…” “Yee! Tampa tanya!” “Eek! Stop that!” “A! Tanya awra, a’maelamin!” “Ah! That hurt, my beloved!” “Lle vesta?” “Do You Promise?” Gaelic “De ‘n t-ainm a tha ort" What’s you name? “Tha mi ag obair ann an taigh-osda.” I work in a hotel. “De ‘n aois atha thu?” How old are you? “Am bi sibh fada?” Will you be long? “Cha bhi.” No. ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
