~*How Lisa & David Met*~

Chapter 4
By Lisa ashley_mylove3@yahoo.com
A special day has been planned since I have two days left on my vacation. Braiding my thick hair, I put it into a fabric band. Grabbing my backpack, I check to see if all is ready. Glancing at the clock I head out of the house not forgetting to set the alarms. Just as I turn around from shutting the main house, David pulls up. With a hop and a skip I run to meet him. I reach him as he gets out of the vehicle and threw myself into his arms. “Hey, Babe! I missed you!” I squealed as I am swung around in a spin. Laughing, David stops and says in a tease, “Really? What do I have to do to make you believe that I missed you more?” Giggling my response I stand on my tiptoes and whisper in his ear. Looking back at me, his eyebrows raise a notch. “I think that can be arranged. I don’t think I have ever been given such a request.” He gives me a devilish look as he looks around to see if anyone is watching. Stretching, he walks over to the lawn and performs a cartwheel. I laugh and shake my head. I seriously didn’t think he would do it. I quickly get into the Jeep and he follows. Our drive is taking us far into the island to explore the wilderness/rainforest areas. David asked me if I wanted to do something special for these last days that we were to be together and I chose this area. The Seven Sacred Pools. Something that was mentioned in the movie IQ with Meg Ryan. I was always curious about it and since it’s right here in Maui…I thought why not! Then, on to the Hana Rainforest. Our drive took an hour as we drive on the winding road taking us to a parking area. The rest of the way, we have to hike. It’s dense forest up here and I wonder about what kind of wild life we will encounter. Along the way, we encounter a few fans of his. Autographs and pictures as per usual. They usually popped up when we had stopped to get a kiss or two in. One fan, Rachael, that we encountered, had a hysterical type of excitement. She was funny to watch. I understood her enthusiasm. When I was a preteen, I had my share of movie star crushes with my going absolutely gah-gah when I saw them in a film. After heading up the trail more, David notices his surroundings, he says, "Oh, I definitely like it here. We really must stay here at a different time when I'm off from filming. It's quite peaceful and relaxing. I like how the pace of life seems much slower than other places in the States. There seems to be a lot of things to do here. We could go mountain biking, walking, and hiking on the trails." David says with a glint in his eye. “I could get some great pictures of the wildlife and of the natural surroundings." "Ah yeah! Definitely! All those activities sound fun. The photography sounds like a great thing as well. I often take pictures of the mountains and of the kids when I'm home. I discovered that with my camera, I can take black & white much better than color. They seem to turn out more often than not.” I say in a dreamy tone while in the back of my mind I acknowledge that he said “We”. We discuss some of our hopes and dreams for the future while we hike the trail. I think the atmosphere has made an impression on us. As we reach the site, I am amazed at how gorgeous it is. Water is in the air and making my skin moist. Since it’s a warm day, the air is heavy. There aren’t many about so it seems so private. We come to a bridge and I close my eyes. I have a terrible fear of heights and whether it’s a building or a ledge or a bridge…I’m scared. Deciding I was going to cross it quickly, I take my fear head on. It’s a large…long…and high bridge…with water rushing under us. I continue discussing my hope for the future to take my mind off my task at hand. "I don't know. I look forward to becoming a wife and mother. I still wish to return to school to become a nurse. I really hated to leave school to work, but I didn't really have a choice. Originally, after my dad died, I took the Medical Assisting course thinking it would be better with out the serious responsibility that a nurse has, but I found out that it's about the same, except that a nurse knows far more than an MA. I think I need the challenge. I wouldn't be in school for long, since I already have some of the books and book knowledge. I have always had a medical mind and maybe I can accomplish what I set out to do. “I somehow felt like I was a failure when I had to drop out. I was so proud that I had actually made the step in the right direction when I went back. I knew my dad would have loved to see me take the initiative in my future and my Grandpa was proud as well. It felt like I let down my family and myself." I say with sadness touching my voice as we reach the other side. "That would feel like a let down. I think it's a great idea that you have some kind of goal on this issue. I hope that you can do it. Being a nurse is a fantastic profession. Helping people is very satisfying. Plus, you're always prepared if anything ever happens...like if we go snow boarding sometime and I take a spill. You can nurse me back to health." Looking at him, I think about this man who has woo’d my heart. **Could he possibly be serious. Can I trust this glimmer of hope?** I begin to blush and smile shyly. **He is staring at me so intently that I wonder what it is it that he sees with his beautiful blue eyes. What is he thinking? Can this moment in time last forever? Will he truly want to stay in touch past my vacation? Is there a future for us?** I reach the end of the bridge. I look over to the trees to my left, not wanting to think of an end to this sweet romance that I have found myself involved with. I start to let go of David's hand to walk over to the railing of the bridge, but he grasps my hand. I look down at my hand and then into his eyes. He stares into mine with the look of…hunger…insatiable desire. David pulls me close into his embrace. "Oh bloody hell!" David, declares, as he begins to kiss me with such passion, that it leaves me breathless. As I receive his kisses, I feel my heart utterly surrender. Suddenly from out of nowhere, we hear a voice say, "Get A Room!" and a laugh. Our lips part and we look around to trying to see where it came from. I could swear that I recognize Rachael's voice, but I can't see her. "Manke naa i'omentien?" He says. "Hmm? I can't tell where it was coming from. Can you?" I say. David, surprised asks, "Lle quena i'lambe tel'Eldalie?” "Uh, sorry?" I ask puzzled. David chuckles softly and with a look of slight frustration he says with exasperation in his voice, **Sigh** "You know, this is becoming a habit of being interrupted.” Returning my attention to David, **giggle** I shrugged my shoulders and decided I would continue with where we left off. Only this time, I would kiss him first. ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
