~*How Lisa & David Met*~

Chapter 10
By Lisa ashley_mylove3@yahoo.com
Present Day: July 30, 2004
Walking up the stairs was one of those moments you realize in life that your life has changed forever. I have no idea how I will return to my humdrum life now. I wonder if we can carry on a long distance relationship when I myself can’t afford to see him. I just can’t just pack up for the weekend and fly to Australia. Not in a million years. No matter what, I’ll love him always…even if we can’t be together. As I slip into bed, I feel my heart slowly…subtly break. I must say goodbye... I feel it’s just too soon. Not enough time spent with him. I must also say goodbye to the beautiful island paradise where I lost my heart to the one man who could reach it. **Oh, this is killing me.** I think with my heart growing heavy. Leaning over to the lamp, I **Click** off the light and sink into the bed. I begin to cry softly, becoming so exhausted that I’m not even aware that sleep has come to claim me. ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Waking up the next morning, I felt a little better. I made quick of my re-packing so I could get downstairs for a little breakfast before we head back to my cousins. As I came around to the dinning area, I set down my bags. David is already up and has poured cereal for the both of us. I walk up to him and give him a hug and a kiss. He seems pleased to see me, but I can see that he has something on his mind. I quietly take my seat and pour the milk over my Raisin Bran. I smile at his choice for me. I do love a good bowl of the cereal, after all it was my dad’s favorite cereal. David asks my plans for the day since I have much to do to get my things together and ready for my trip tomorrow morning. “I have to get packed up, return my rental, and clean the guest house so that it’s not a sty when I leave. I may have to ship UPS some of the clothes and souvenirs that I’ve accumulated since I came to Maui.” I list a few more things and find that my day will be filled. “Hmm…sounds like you’re a busy girl today. I’m afraid I have some news, Luv. I can’t see you off tomorrow. I have to take a flight out of here to attend to some things before I too head back to my home. I was hoping to spend some time with you, but I’m afraid this can’t wait. He tells me. I look at him with understanding, though my heart feels low. “Alright, David. I guess, we’ll say good…bye when we get to my place.” My voice catches. **No tears, No tears. Don’t let him see my pain.** I say to myself. I give David a smile to reassure him that everything was OK even though I wasn’t really feeling it. He reaches over to my cheek and caresses it before he holds my hand. “I’m sorry, Lisa. I didn’t plan it this way. I’ll call you before you leave. Let’s not be gloomy. Today is a beautiful day.” I try to cheer up as we finish our breakfast. ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ After a day full of this and that, I try not to remember my goodbye to David. I wept and sobbed in his arms. He held me with such love. Telling me it was OK. That he loved me and giving me tender words of affection. I was able to slip a letter into his blazer pocket with my thoughts and feelings of our time together that I had written to him along with a small, brushed, heart-shaped white gold locket that possessed my picture that I had taken while in Maui. I felt drained after he left. I moped around feeling depressed that at the end of this most trying day I fell right to sleep without effort. ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
