At age 21, Cloud Strife leads the life of a mercenary for hire. As ex-member of Shinra's elite squad known as SOLDIER, his fighting skills are high in demand. Cloud joins the rebel group AVALANCHE for their first strike against one of Shinra's huge Mako Reactors that surround the city of Midgar.

A beautiful 22-year-old. Aeris is a bright spot in the middle of a dark and dreary town. While selling flowers near Avalanche's first target, Aeris's life is forever altered after a chance meeting with Cloud. Because of her mysterious backround, Shinra has pursued her for most of her life. Now she must fight against those who would enslaves here and destroy what she holds most dear.

Tifa and Cloud were childhood friends, but parted ways when Cloud left his hometown of Nibelhiem to join Soldier. When her parents died, Tifa also left Nibelhiem and headed for Midgar. Soon after opening a bar, Tifa's Seventh Heaven, she met Barret and joined his ragtag group of rebels known as Avalanche. It's her goal to make sure Cloud remains with Avalanche after his first mission with the team.

Although his fiery red fur may make him look like a wild animal, Red XIII intellect is well above that of most humans. Not much is known about Red XIII's origin. He's currently being held captive in Shinra's headquarters where he's forced to participate in their twisted experiments.

Barret is a 35-year-old leader of the rebel team known as Avalanche. He leads the team in the quest to stop Shinra's Mako Reactors and save the life of the planet. Although he is truly devoted to the team, Barret often regrets having to leave his young daughter, Marlene, alone or in the care of others. Barret's motives are unclear, but most believe Shinra was somehow responsible for the death of his wife.

Cid is an expert pilot and mechanic who dreams of one day becoming the first man in space. His dream would have been fulfilled, but he aborted a launch in order to save the life of one of his crew. Now he spends his time trying to repair his inoperable rocket in the hopes that Shinra may one day reinstate its space program, giving him another chance at fulfilling his dream.

This 16-year-old ninja spent most of her time preying on helpless travelers until she met up with Cloud's party. Although she is reluctant to join Avalanche, her ulterior motives give her reason to tag along, if only temporarily. Her clever wit and ninja skills coupled with her selfish ways will either make her a powerful ally or a serious pain in the neck.

Although Cait Sith's fortune telling ability may not impress you, his fighting skills are a sight to be witnessed. The party first bumps into this joker while wandering around Gold Saucer. Cait Sith eagerly joins the group to see if his prediction proves to be true.

Name:  Vincent Valentine

Talk about a dark presence, Vincent sends chills down the toughest person's spine. Although he may look evil at first, there's a good soul trapped beneath his dark exterior. Vincent's plight is yet another example of Shinra's warped experimentation; however, there's more to this story than just bungled scientific research.

Sephiroth is the former leader of the Shinra army. In his days as a Soldier, Cloud looked to Sephiroth as a leader and role model. Sephiroth, long thought dead, has returned -- but why? His origins and destiny are equally hazy. He wields the holy sword, Masamune.

A cadet in SeeD, the special combat unit of the Balamb Garden Military Academy.
His aloof and anti-social behavior makes him appear selfish and lacking a
sense of team unity. Squall dislikes having others involved in his affairs,
and is best described as a lone wolf.

Squall's rival and a candidate for SeeD. Although Seifer is a naturally gifted soldier, his inability to take orders and control his temper has earned him the label of "problematic". Although recognizing and praising Squall's abilities he, still regards him as his ultimate rival.

 A beautiful, spirited young woman. A lively individual with the ability to touch people's hearts. Open and honest with her feelings. She speaks her mind without reservation. Driven by her ambitions, she can be difficult at times.

A Garden Cadet with unsurpassed martial arts skills. Aspiring to become like his grand farther who was once a solider, Zell entered Garden at the age of 13. Not being one to think matters through, he is known to act on impulse rather than reasoning. At heart however, he is an honest, dedicated young man.

A top-notch member of SeeD who is Squall's instructor. A SeeD cadet at the age of 15, Quistis now instructs Squall and his companions at Balamb Garden. Contrary to her cool exterior, she occasionally has difficult time coping with frustration, and as a result can become depressed over trivial matters.

An expert gunman and consummate lady's man, Irvine is known as the "Best shooter in Galbadian Garden". His reputation for cherishing the company of women is almost as well known as his accuracy with a gun. Although he seems to be uncaring and frivolous at first glance, in reality he is sensitive and serious.

A spunky young woman with a carefree spirit, Selphie seems out of place in a military academy, because of her innocent appearance and light-hearted personality. Her happy-go-lucky disposition and laid-back attitude tend her to catch others off guard.

Name:  Laguna Loire

Occupation:  President of Esthar

Laguna is a caring man with a great passion for writing. Despite being so clumsy, he is a respected leader who inlisted in the Galbadian army. He was terribly injured in a scouting expedition a few years back, but recooperated in a small town and is currently alive and very well.

Name: Kiros Seagill

Kiros uses sharpe blades which he wears on each hand to fight with. Not much is known about him except that he fights with Laguna and is in the Galbadia army.

   Ward is a big powerful man. He has also be assigned to fight along side Laguna, like Kiros. He uses a very heavy weapon to attack enemies with, a Harpoon.

Perhaps the most powerful magic user in the world, the Sorceress demands for power. Edea has brainwashed the president of Galbadia and uses the army for her own world domination. Edea is a cool-hearted and ruthless killer. Once a kind hearted woman operating an orphanage, Edea seems to lose her feelings.

Living moment to moment with nothing to lose, Zidane lives his life as a thief in Tantalus with no memory of his past. Optimistic and endearing through his high confidence, Zidane focuses his premature appeal for girls onto Princess Garnet shortly after her kidnapping. However, the more he begins to discover who he is, the more his personality begins to fade.

Young, beautiful, her life confined solely within castle walls and fearing a conspiracy within Alexandria, Garnet looks for the perfect opportunity to escape with the thief band Tantalus. Questioning the loyalty of her own mother, Queen Brahne, Garnet disguises herself as a commoner with Steiner at her side in search for the answers that continue to ravage her heart.

Being the only black mage not under the control of Queen Brahne, Vivi sets out to uncover his dark past to ensure his existence and future.

Sworn to the Queen of Alexandria and brimming with honor, Adelbert Steiner's devotion to protecting Princess Garnet is as rich as his clumsiness. Socially primitive, but always thinking with an appetite, Quina is part of the Qu Clan. Quina joins Zidane in order to travel around the world and flavor the different foods it has to offer. Somewhat unorthodox and with no other real intent of purpose in mind, Quina simply follows as a tag along. Nonetheless, Quina gains a small nuiance of the danger lurking about.

Limit Break: Eidolon Summon

The only survivor of a once proud race of Summoners, Eiko has been alone most of her life and is under the care of a group of moogles. After meeting Zidane, her attention instantly latches onto him, eliviating the emptiness and solitude that has been with her all her life. No matter what the circumstances may be, she vows to never be left alone again.

An intimidating element from Zidane's past, Amarant decides to join the party after being defeated in a personal skirmish. Originally a hired Bounty Hunter by Queen Brahne, Amarant is rash and quick to judge, with a total disregard for authority and acts on his own will. However, it doesn't seem to be enough for him to detach from the group he so effortlessly despises.

Tidus is the 17 year old, brown-haired, sword-wielding hero. Tidus is the star player on the Blitzball team known as the Zanarkand Abes. Tidus has legions of adoring fans, from young children who ask him for Blitzball tips to giggling teenage girls who ask for his autograph. Tidus is the son of Jecht, a famous Blitzball player who disappeared years ago.

Name: Yuna Braska

Gentle but strong, Yuna completed strenuous physical and mental training on the Isle of Besaid, following in her father's footsteps and becoming a summoner. Now, she faces a difficult pilgrimage across the lands of Spira to collect Aeons and gather strength for the Final Summoning that will defeat Sin and bring peace to the people of Spira.

Kimahri, a silent but gentle giant, guards Yuna as her father figure, having seen her grow from a child playing into a young woman with a mission. His Ronso tribe shunned him because of his short stature among them. Although he has a quiet, bold exterior, he is wise and full of heart.

Occupation: Guardian / Black Mage

Weapon: Moogle Dolls

Limit Break: Fury

Lulu is the sultry and sexy, yet stoic and intimidating black mage. She hails from the island of Besaid, where she helped Yuna begin her training as a summoner. Although this is not the first time she is working as a guardian, her main role to Yuna is that of a wise older sister, and her knowledge of the terrain they cover is invaluable.
 

Name: Rikku

Occupation: Guardian / Al Bhed

Rikku is a cheerful Al Bhed girl with quick fingers and deep pockets. She latches on to Yuna, protecting her with all her heart and bestowing an affectionate nickname on her. Although Rikku's happy nature hides a concerned and sometimes frightened young lady, she wants to protect Yuna and all of Spira as well.

Wakka is a boisterous young man, born on the Isle of Besaid. Although a generally kind person, he has rigid ideas of what should and should not be done, according to the teachings of the Temple of Yevon. However, as Yuna's guardian, he may have to change the people to whom his loyalty lies- does he love the maesters or Yuna more?
