Union Artillery

Airfix had issued a Civil War artillery set in the late 60's, but it was a short production run and has never been reissued.  No set was readily available until the mid-90s, when both Revell and Imex issued nearly identical sets.  The figures in the two sets are so similar that I suspect the same sculptor was used.  The same poses are used in the Union and Confederate artillery sets, with the exception of a rammer-man in soft hat in the Imex CSA set and the officers in the two Imex sets.

The officer at bottom is from the Imex CSA artillery set, while the top two figures are from the Imex Union set.  The others are all Revell figures.  Union artillerymen, like their Confederate counterparts, maintained a higher standard of regulation dress than the infantry, but the figures shown here exhibit the characteristic variety of uniforms to be found in all branches of Civil War armies.
