Update: Kaigun shaves off his afro
You know in all those gangster movie's how there is always a barber shop and someone is always getting a shave or trim? The idea has been with me for a while that it would be really cool to go to a barber's and have a professional shave using those cutthroat razors. So I was in preparation for months, growing a beard that, while not as prolific as some, was certainly respectable in its own right. However my plans came crashing down when I applied for job vacancy and got a face to face interview. Deeming that my chances of getting the job would be better if I shaved off the beard I had cultivated, I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to go to the barber's to get my beard shaved. Unfortunately there was no one to document the event so I settled for the usual method with my normal razor and having a shave in my shower. So I waited a week or so before I could get someone to come with me to the barber's to have a shave.
With my photographer lined up, we set off to Barry's Hair Salon in East Maitland. Barry has been running his business for forty-two and before that his father ran the barber's. Barry was even born in the building that houses his business. With that kind of pedigree it was hard to go past Barry as the man to trust getting that close to my throat with an incredibly sharp razor blade. What follows is a serious of pictures from the event.
