Letter from the founder.
Whats up… this is James. I was thinking about a lot of stuff in the past couple of nights. So I thought I’d write and tell you what I was thinking. Read it if you can, if not its all good, and bear with me on this dyslexia is a bitch haha…
If you know me, then you know I’m not the kind of skater you would call normal. I really do skate how I feel, that’s a given. But in thinking about that I wondered….what would be the ultimate thing to do to be different. Wear strange clothes? No,it’s been done. Skate weird things? Nope, been there done that. Ok, ok…. What if I don’t grind anything anymore? That might work, but then I’d be labeled…..that’s when it hit me.
Labeled… the word I dread most. Man , in thinking of how to be different, I’ve completely fucked over my philosophy of being yourself. Sure things inspire me, I go through different kicks, like clothes or skates. But I always end up wearing tight pants and doing toe rolls.
That’s because that is what I love to do.
I could jock someones style till I was almost that person, but I would always be me in the end. So if you dress how you are comfortable and skate how you like to skate, I applaude you. But don’t trick yourself into thinking that you can’t wear a certain style of clothing, or listen to a certain type of music because “it doesn’t go with your style” that’s soooo not true, do what you love…love what you do. Don’t hate on people because they are different, use them as a gateway to finding how you like to live. Try something different, wear different things, do different tricks. Whats the worst that could happen, you might like it? Well, just take this little essay in stride, because I'm sure I might help some people out with this writing, and even if its just one person, I’m glad I opened up your mind to a new way of thinking.
Keep it real and don’t give up on a certain thing just because a couple people make fun of you. They are just jealous that they can’t break through the mold.
Live love and skate, and remember to keep it rockin’,
James short
