Just who the heck is this guy Wayne, anyway?
Name: Wayne Alan Tapia
D.O.B.: May 31, 1967
After listening to "A Night at the Opera" by Queen, I picked up the guitar at age 10, and with the help of my family, got fairly good at the darn thing. My first band was in junior high, "The Razors". We played at lunch hours and at a school dance, mostly original "surf" music with the occasional Plasmatics tune tossed in for good measure.
After 9th grade, I went on a SERIOUS Ozzy/Sabbath tangent. That led into Zeppelin, Rush, Yes, and all things progressive. I also listened to a ton of classical music, due to my upbringing. Mom had a HUGE selection to go thru, and I heard a lot of it.
To make a VERY long story short, I've played in almost any type of band/musical style - from bluegrass to metal. People ask me, "What kind of music do you play?" Most of the time, I have a tough time knowing what to tell them. Usually, the stock answer of "rock" seems to suffice. I enjoyed a 10 year stint with the band Ashland, and was able to get myself known in international guitar circles. I'm in the process of getting a degree in audio engineering.
I try to listen to as many varied styles as possible. You never know where an inspiration will come from. Some of the players I like are here. I will always play...I was never into the guitar to try and be "famous", I just enjoy the way it makes me feel (If I can make a few bucks, all the better though...).
Well, enough about me. Enjoy perusing the site!
