More bullet-pointed thoughts from the past week’s classes:
I want a sympathizer who is there with me, not above me with solutions or pity, but crying with my pain as well as their own.
Not enough students here share their feelings or admit to their shortcomings even though we all have them. Take responsibility for your most vulnerable weaknesses, expose them to give them resilience, and fortify them so that they become your strongest points.
Whatever you are going through, it could be so much worse. Visualize your ideal future as well as your worst fear and what you have now will look like Aristotle’s Golden Mean.
If you are ever concerned that you won’t be able to take yourself seriously unless you consistently follow through on your plans and ideas, even those that you expect you will later regret, validate and qualify the unfavorable opinions you have about those thoughts and pursue a superior alternative rather than undermining and insulting the inferior. You will feel more like you have two very wise collaborating individuals in your head than one bully and one pushover.
