Active Listening
Active listening involves two or people engaging in a conversation of any nature.
One person will speak about their feelings, views, opinions, or thoughts. The other
person or people who are a part of the conversation will focus entirely on what the
speaker in the conversation is saying. This means the listener(s) will drop any
other thoughts they may have had prior to beginning their listening process. The
listener(s) are only allowed to listen, they must not interrupt the speaker by
asking questions, saying their opinions or feelings about what the speaker is
saying. Having the active listener(s) to intensively listen to what you are saying,
allows the speaker to speak freely about any topic of his or her choice. The active
listener(s) will allow the speaker to feel willing and comfortable to talk to the
active listener(s) knowing that active listener(s) are giving him or her their
undivided attention and are focusing on what she or he are saying.
