CFS2 Trivia
Aircraft can land and repair/rearm with gun and cannon damage, but cannot repair if the aircraft sustains damage only from another plane's explosion. In this example, a crash between two planes on the runway caused damage to the plane on the left. This damage will not repair by stopping on the runway.
A destroyed plane with wings folded will continue to crash upon respawn as the wings are still folded.
The HUD clock in a multiplayer game starts at noon. Joining a game in progress will indicate how long the game has been going. The sun will set in the longer games.
The rest of the world is on the CFS2 CD, the only runways are on the Pacific theatre. Some of the stock scenery is really great.
The farther south the game, the lower the sun.
The mission builder can be used to make bases, etc using files already on the CD. Mission files are very small and such bases and airports can be seen offline when flying missions.
The missions can be used online using CFS2 Multiswap.
Scenery can be imported from FS2000 with all the airports.
Scenery can be built and added using downloadable freeware. Including adding lights, navigational aids, etc.
Ever get lost? Just right click on the screen and go to top down view and zoom out. Makes finding the airbase on a tiny island easier. This also will show where the game is being held in case no one knows where the location is.
Find a game with great scenery? Hit control Z and copy the coordinates..
In a team game and don't know which way to go? Control z to get the heading to steer in the directions of the host.
The CFS2 game has options for keyboard commands, default or CFS1/FS. When the game is configured for CFS1 layout, going to keyboard assignments in the settings still show up as CFS2.
When hosting a multiplayer game in CFS2, the starting altitude can be set between 1000 and 10000 feet and the starting speed can be set between 120 and 300. Higher elevations can be set for multiplayer, but if a player spawns on a mountain, the plane will register as a prop strike and respawn at a higher altitude.
Want to take a screenshot? Hit print scrn key and open up Paint or whatever image editing program and paste the image to the canvas. (Thanks SKS for the formation practice.)
Aircraft have a normal texture file and a damage texture file. At some point, the damage file is used to show missing parts, wingtips or tail. (Example of repainted aircraft with green damage file, the damage portion is used to show the missing wingtip.)
