What Has Happened to Social Studies in the Elementary School?

I thought I was in heaven when I heard Jeff Passe from UNC-C speak.  Research shows that integration in key to time and standards.

 

The Ball of Confusion

Barbara Hairfiedl, secretary in NCCSS, had a great presentation!  This was the perfect explanation on "highly qualified" teachers.  Basically for 5th grade teachers who get grandfathered into a middle level, they need to do one of two things:

A.  Get H.O.U.S.S.E. trained

B.  Take the nasty, dreaded PRAXIS exam
